[Desktop-packages] [Bug 960408] Re: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add
Hiya! Phill Whiteside (phillw) pinged me on IRC in #ubuntu-bugs and requested that this be marked "Invalid" which Saikrishna Arcot (saiarcot895) was trying to do (but they marked this as "Fix Released". After looking at this and bug triage guidelines, this is better marked as "Won't Fix". This initially falls into a "Feature Request", but since this is a feature that has been dropped with no intention on implementing, this should be marked "Won't Fix" rather than "Invalid". As such, I'm marking this as "Won't Fix" instead of "Fix Released". ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/960408 Title: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1. open chromium 2. goto apps.ubuntu.com 3. select an app and click on the install button 4. you get the screenshot below which is ugly It would be nice if chromium could add apt:// and a suitable default app to open in if possible. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 960408] Re: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add
That was my mistake. I was intending to close the bug and chose Fix Released before I realized that this is Invalid and not a bug. Unfortunately, it can only be changed by a bug supervisor now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/960408 Title: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1. open chromium 2. goto apps.ubuntu.com 3. select an app and click on the install button 4. you get the screenshot below which is ugly It would be nice if chromium could add apt:// and a suitable default app to open in if possible. Hi, If this is technically not a bug, how was a fix released? Regards, Phill. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 960408] Re: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add
There is a default app: the Ubuntu Software Center. That screen is just telling you that it will launch the Software Center for the app. Also, I believe the protocol handles are managed by the system, not Chromium. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/960408 Title: Chromium doesn't know how to handle apt:// by default is this a feature we can add Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1. open chromium 2. goto apps.ubuntu.com 3. select an app and click on the install button 4. you get the screenshot below which is ugly It would be nice if chromium could add apt:// and a suitable default app to open in if possible.
