Emre Onur Bal's workaround solution (under the link in Savas Yasar's comment above) works until a permanent fix is in place. This bug hit me during first use after a fresh installation of 12.04 Pangolin and it was driving me nuts trying to manually type a simple e-mail address. I have solved this issue with the info in the following link. Open Mozilla Thunderbird Advanced Configuration and reset app.support.baseURL value. After resetting I can use characters related alt gr key. My Thunderbird version is 12.0.1, running on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 with Gnome, and I am also affected by this bug. Today, I upgraded my system to 12.04 and the bug has changed its behaivour. Now, we can type @ via AltGr key, but support page is still being opened.
