Title:
emebedded terminal in gedit shows no cursor even though it accepts
  input

Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
the emebedded terminal plugin in gedit worked fine in 11.10 but seems to be
broken in 12.04...
It does accept input and returns normal output but without showing you what
you actually typed in!
This is fine for short commands like 'ls' but you can't really do any serious
work!

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
  Package: gedit 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
  ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.38-generic 3.2.16
  Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64
  NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx
  ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7
  Architecture: amd64
  Date: Sun May 6 14:54:24 2012
  ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gedit
  SourcePackage: gedit
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
