We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do and in which version of Ubuntu otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time. Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better. Same problem on 12.04 on a Dell Vostro 1700, 2GB RAM, Intel Core2 Duo, 2Ghz. I tried to look at system monitor when it happens but the whole system just freezes so you can't tell what's happening. Hi there, I got the same Problem with a second screen via a docking station. But after deleting the nvidia driver, everything went to normal (except the bad two screen expierience by the nuoveau driver)! So until now I'm getting used to the 'maximizing break' until nvidia making this bloody driver open source or just not so bad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998056 Title: Maximize window freezes computer for about 10 seconds Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “xchat-gnome” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: When using the terminal, if I try to maximize it's window using the menus, the maximize button or any shortcut, my display freezes for about 10 seconds (nothing responding, not even alt-tab, displaying the dash or anything... ). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 998056] Re: Maximize window freezes computer for about 10 seconds
As an added note, I agree that this appears to happen about 90% of the time when I'm connected to my laptop dock at work with 2 screens attached. But when working off the dock at home on the laptop screen only, it happens far less often, maybe only about 50% of the time. Still extremely disruptive.
