I looked at the last thread discussing this and started compiling a page at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/BEAM/%5BWIP%5D+SDKHarness+Container+Image+Release+Process The goal is to have a helpful resource and a guide for the process. It looks like there are still unknowns and I don't think we have the process defined yet. I personally would be very uncertain of what to do if we decided to release now, and would probably spend a lot of time on figuring it out. I suggest we finalize and document (on the above page) at least these things before we commit to releasing the containers: * link all the relevant background information; * document all the commands to build/publish the images; * document the examples of how to run tests and examples; * confirm the quotas / permissions and the process of how to obtain permissions for publication; * define some specific validation steps: * specific test suites; * examples to run for validation; ... * whether this should block the release, be part of the release, be async; * define how the containers should or allowed to be used before we announce their availability; I think that answering these questions should not be done as part of the current release process. I can start pinging people about the specifics but I don't think the actual release of the containers should be tied to Beam 2.14 release process at the moment. And if you already can answer some of the questions feel free to update the page (or add comment there, or send the info to me). Thoughts? I don't know, haven't followed the docker images release thread. Will take a look and see if it's feasible or is a blocker for this release. Are you planning to release also the docker images that were postponed in the previous release? If so probably starting early to define that part of the process will be a good idea. Hello Beam community! Beam 2.14 release branch cut date is June 19 according to the release calendar [1]. I would like to volunteer myself to do this release. The plan is to cut the branch on that date, and cherrypick fixes if needed. If you have release blocking issues for 2.14 please mark their "Fix Version" as 2.14.0 [2]. Please use 2.15.0 release in JIRA in case you would like to move any non-blocking issues to that version. And if we're doing a 2.7.1 release it should probably happen independently and in parallel if we want to maintain the release cadence. Thoughts, comments, objections?
