Advanced zone with KVM (on CentOS 7 that is, after some manual tweaks) - Advanced zone with XenServer - Deployed VPCs, VMs and VPNs between them - Crashed a KVM hypervisor, watched it recover - Tested it again and all was fine. VPN recovery was automatic. 3. Upgraded 4.4.4 - 4.5.2 It went fine. About KVM on CentOS 7 At work we're actually running KVM on CentOS 7, on ACS 4.4.x. Although I know not many people do. I tried it on 4.5.2 and encountered the issues described in CLOUDSTACK-8443. I checked the documentation and it said we only support CentOS 6.3 (I assume .3 should be .x but anyway) on ACS 4.5.x so I'll just ignore this for now. I have updated the Jira issue with some findings and I will investigate this further, so we can fix it and at least start supporting CentOS 7 as a KVM hypervisor out-of-the-box in 4.6. Basically, If we deploy CS 4.4.1 and we like the look of XS 6.5 when it comes out, will we need to make any changes to CS to start using it? Currently when using a multi CPU compute service offering, cloudstack creates the CPUs on the vm using all sockets. This can be an issue for operating systems that have physical CPU sockets limits. It can also be a license issue for certain software as well. An easy work around would be to let the admin define the socket to core ratio in the compute service offering. I can only fantasize on the full rationale of the implementation of
the retry but in general it makes sense to me. A job has a time to try
and a times tried field. the worker manager has time to sleep and max
retries. As you can see below these are read from the configuration:

_maxRetries = NumbersUtil.parseInt(value, 5);
there is also
value = params.get(stop.retry.interval);

The time.to.sleep and stop.retry.interval seem to jointly explain the
ten minute scenario you described in the bug report. They don't do
completely as some of the handling of the values is based on
bitshifting and not on datetime calculus (using mixed factors of
1000,60,60,24 and 365.25)
You can try and play with those to tune your setting. In any case
looking at the vm to decide to restart the vm is not usefull as
Cloudstack will do some cleanup after stopping the instance. You
should really wait untill cloudstack reports on the job with either
succes or error.

The user stops the vm from the UI
The MS sends the stop command to the machine
The machine stops and takes a long time for it
The MS reschedules the stop
Then machine stops
the user starts the machine
the MS get by stopping the machine
Did the user ever get a confirmation that the machine was stopped or
that stopping failed? If so, this is the bug, as it seems the MS works
as designed.
Don't get me wrong; I am trying to figure out a path to a solution for
you. I am not convinced there is a bug in the management server
though. That doesn't mean it can be in cloudstack over all. Either at
a design level or for instance in some inter-process communication.

Hello, I can not assess time-consuming to solve this problem. I'm afraid that with the growing popularity of the ACS product this problem will escalate. Users will be more persuasive to install large installation based on the ACS. The fact that the machine user closes after a few minutes does not mean that there are problems with them. In our infrastructure, we have installed a large ERP environment, DataMining, etc. hence we observe this issue so fast. Back to the main thread, I can concur that we should shift this issue to the next version. A few thoughts: - Maybe we should introduce a flag indicating the potential complexity of the solution error ? Hello, Is anyone using Citrix'a 6.2SP1 noticed a problem with blocking the VDI during making snapshot'a? VDI disk during snapshot is marked as paused and virtual machine can not use it. It looks like the process tapdisk (mapping VDI disk to the virtual machine) was destroyed and at this point the system/hypervizor can not perform the operation 'unpause'. You should remove the same file without the -SNAPSHOT in the name. It's
probably reading that file on boot.

After the upgrade from version 3.0.2 to 4.2.1 appeared very strange error
associated with self-stopping machine after changing the offering.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Running instance of the machine
2. Stop with the operating system
3. Change offering of machine
4. Start the machine
5. Waiting for 10 minutes
6. CloudStack stops the machine for no reason
7. Restart the machine
8. Sometimes this situation repeats few times

XS 6.2SP1 - user vm instance (CentOS) sees 1 processor,
I don't have XS 6.0.2 and 6.1 in my lab.
