If "big names in a small part of a small country" apply, I have two
live examples (their content is in French but you'll get the idea), and
a few more references below. People, bear with me if you've heard this
before ;-)

http://www.nouvo.ch/ is the website of "nouvo", a TV show of the
national Swiss television (french-speaking branch) which is about
innovation, gadgets, multimedia etc. In addition to being a very
important part of the show, the website is used as a kind of laboratory
to test new ideas for video distribution and audience interaction.

We'll be adding video forums next week, for audience interaction via
webcams, using Flash-based video integrated in the Cocoon-generated
website. I can't say more for now but this is public information
already, so here you go.

They're very happy with the system and it's very stable, more info on
my weblog at

http://codeconsult.ch/bertrand/archives/000566.html
http://codeconsult.ch/bertrand/archives/000370.html

The same Cocoon-based core is used to run http://archives.tsr.ch/home
where the historical video archives of the same TV network
(http://www.tsr.ch) are published.

See http://codeconsult.ch/bertrand/archives/000570.html.

This is all public information, so feel free to cite these projects as
references, or ask me off-list if you need more details.

I haven't checked if someone mentioned Jack Iver's and friends
presentation at the last GT, you can find it at
http://www.cocoongt.org/Slides-and-recordings.html.

The presentation mentions the Webby award-winning "Merck Manual Second
Home Edition" website, which also runs on Cocoon.

Other big names references around here are Otego's work for the Swiss
Interbank Clearing, search for

otego "swiss interbank clearing" cocoon

on Google.

And also SWX, the electronic Swiss Exchange, mentioned in
http://cocoon.apache.org/link/livesites-2.1.html

Hope this helps,
-Bertrand

Sorry guys, when asking around the various people who were with me on
stage I got a few of them who didn't like the idea of such material
being available for download, this is why it hasn't been published. I
can't blame them for that, actually I'm happy for what I've got which
was a massive attention and willingness to collaborate.

BUT, Nicolas, do get in touch with me: I have a few references for you
of banking projects and I'm more than willing to help you in the
evaluation process.

Ciao,

I can't give you anything official either, but we have used cocoon
over the past 2 years on multiple projects at Pfizer, Xerox, and
Kodak. It is also at the heart of Realnet, which is currently
installed at Bank of America and Freddie Mac. So, those are some
pretty big names.

Cocoon is also used by a large european airplane manufacturer (are there
many of them? :-) ), and for large CMS/DMS in the french administration
and many french universities.

could show where Cocoon is being used (big names preferrred). I
suggest you put that information somewhere visible. Other projects

I know it can soud unfair but enterprises pay attention to "who has

Another interesting list might be
http://codeconsult.ch/bertrand/archives/000389.html. We had a "success
stories" session at the Cocoon GetTogether 2004. That's what Bertrand's
post is about. The minutes of the session can be found at

yes, there is such a page, at least as pure list of links: http://
cocoon.apache.org/link/livesites-2.1.html. With the big names it is
somewhat difficult. You have to search them in the list. The "big"
names that I would mention are vnunet.com, the Eurex and Eurex US
and the Swiss Exchange.

Hi Nicolás,

there is a section called "Live Sites" on the Cocoon Website which lists
many websites running a certain version of Cocoon:

http://cocoon.apache.org/link/livesites-2.0.html
http://cocoon.apache.org/link/livesites-1.x.html

All the GetTogether presentations should be available in the Cocoon

Impress your boss: Cocoon success stories

2004-09-13 Thread Gianugo Rabellino
This is the title of my upcoming presentation at the next Cocoon
GetTogether in Gent (http://www.orixo.com/events/gt2004/). This isn't
going to be the usual presentation, and I need your help to make it
happen.

The idea is to have on stage a group of 6 to 10 speakers presenting
their successful Cocoon projects. No more than 5-6 slides each,
following a common template (I'll set up a Wiki page soonish), no more
than 5-8 minutes each, pure "lighting talk" style.

Now, since I anticipate some of your concerns, here is some specific
information:

1. while we would of course just love to hear company names, you don't
have to provide them if you have privacy issues. Stating something
along the lines of "company working in the XXX field, with n employees
and y turnover" would be more than enough. But if you are able to
convince your boss/customer to come out from the shadows, please do!

2. you don't have to come to Gent if you can't (but of course you're
most welcome). I'm willing to be your proxy if you're far away or just
have no time: all you'll have to do is work through a very short
interview I'll send you, maybe answer a 10 minutes phone call if that's
needed, and I'll take care of the rest. I'm willing to take care of the
rest *even* if you do come on stage, so lack of time is not a valid
excuse. And of course, keep in mind that being on stage is much nicer.
:-)

So, if you were successful with Cocoon, it's time for you to give
something back to our community. It's stage time, come and speak up!

(and, of course, you're welcome to contact me privately about all this)
