It's not about Budapest being "the sticks", but sometimes local habits
are sufficiently different to make it hard to find products that you'd
take for granted back home.

Hi Brane,
How about you don't be a jerk for your own "amusement"?

We ought to be safe to ask questions of one another without a
sarcastic donkey response... please.

Thanks,

I think you should pack everything. this is the sticks after all, so
pack a few rushes, too, to lay down on the mud floors (well tamped down)
you're likely to find in any reasonable lodging. Also look into
paperwork for bringing a couple hunting rifles; you may end up having to
get your own food. Luckily, the Danube will probably be chock-full of
waterfowl at that time of the year.

Hi Isabel,

I don't think that you have to worry about the availability of Hipp baby
food. They have a sales office in budapest, so for sure it will be sold
somewhere.

But if you want to check availability, please take a look at:
http://www.hipp.com/index.php?id=1482&country_name=Ungarn. If need be, you
can even contact them (Ms Ilona Guba - 0036 1 4502193).

Best regards,

Pierre Smits

I have been there (and live in France), Budapest 'downtown' is quite modern.
Pampers/diapers is definitely no issue, I am not sure about Hipp/Alete specific
brand but am I quite confident you will find baby food.

I used to travel a lot with my boys when they were < 3 and we always had a few
'meals' in the suitcase to cover the first 24/48 hours..just in case.

ApacheCon w/ infant - logistics

2014-08-12 Thread Isabel Drost-Fromm
Hi,

I don't know any Hungarians that I could ask and during my last visit this
topic wasn't exactly on the agenda to explore so trying here in case
someone knows:

I'm planning to travel to ApacheCon EU together with my husband and our
little one. From a friend of mine I know that there are European countries
where ready made baby mashes e.g. by Hipp or Alete aren't available - she
found out only after arrival and was very happy to have booked an apartment
including a kitchen.

So before booking the wrong room for ApacheCon or overpacking: Am I right
in assuming that purchasing Hipp/Alete and Pampers stuff won't be a problem
in Budapest?

Cheers,
Isabel
