[PROPOSAL] W3C Data on the Web Best Practice F2F co-located @ApacheCon

2015-02-10 Thread Lewis John Mcgibbney
Hi Folks,
For a while I have been participating in the W3C Data on the Web Best
Practice Work Group [0].
We have been looking for a place to have our Face to Face and I suggested
that we co-locate it at ApacheCon NA, in April.
I wanted to come to the community list to get some feedback on that
proposal.
What we would be looking to do is have around 20 people have a room for a
few hours one of the days (specifics to TBD).
A few people on the WG said they are thinking about buying tickets for
ApacheCon if they were able to kill two birds with the one stone and cut
their travel down.
What are the chances of something like this taking place?
Thanks in advance for any feedback positive or negative I am keen to get it
all.
Best
Lewis

What are the odds that we can get wrowe to do a “State of TLS in Apache Web
Servers”? It’d be really slick, IMO, to present a unified front on how Apache
HTTPD, Apache Traffic Server, and Apache Tomcat supports all the various
features of TLS and make the world a better, more secure place. I’m sure our
respective communities would gladly participate and help Bill with this.

Maybe even something as small as including some slides to show how our Web
server solutions provide world class TLS features? As a note, ATS was the first
web proxy to get All Green status on Iliya’s “Is it fast yet” TLS comparison
chart:

GSoC 2015 - very little interest so far

2015-02-10 Thread Ulrich Stärk
Hi Folks,

Our ideas list for GSoC projects [1] so far has only 38 entries. IMO this
number is extremely low
given the number of projects at Apache. I conclude that interest in GSoC this
year is either very
low or that my initial email has not reached the right people.

Please help me spread the word by reminding your projects' communities of GSoC
and the great
opportunity for community building it provides.

Thanks,

ApacheCon community track - Who's the track chair?

2015-02-10 Thread Rich Bowen
Anyone want to volunteer to chair the Community track at ApacheCon?
Basically, this means taking charge of reviewing the Community talks
that have been submitted, and selecting the content that will run in
that track - n*6 talks (hopefully) and a few fallback talks to fill in
the inevitable cancellations.

Any takers?

Thank you so much for this. If you could add the CFP URL for each talk
next to it, that will greatly facilitate getting these talks marked
correctly in the CFP system, which, in turn, facilitates things like
speaker notifications, producing the online schedule, and so on.

he has shared with me as well, but I agree with you, no edits just tunnel
information. I need it for TAC later to schedule which applicants cover
which talks.

+1, let us follow the riad of letting Craig do the work.

we just need to find a way of how to get all the tracks scheduled not in
the hands of you, pierre and ross. And not forgetting accepting/rejecting
all these talks, which is something I supoose Craig will have a hard time
doing.

C. Craig Ross is maintaining the One True
Spreadsheet, because he's going to be the one that does the final online
schedule, printed schedule, speaker notifications, and so on. He has
shared that spreadsheet with me, and can also share it with you if you

Craig.

I would like to have something more efficient, more interractive, and
easier to use, but I don't want to end up with the fiasco and confusion
that we've had for the last two events.

I'm open to any suggestion, but we need to be sure that we keep Craig in
the loop for any decisions in this area, since he is ultimately
responsible for session scheduling for this event, and we don't want to
further complicate things.

This is why I have not made my own copy of the data anywhere, other than
"my" track, which I'm coordinating in a doc that I'll turn back over to
Craig as soon as it solidifies.
