Re: [REQUEST] Speakers and Volunteers for OpenExpo Europe 2018 Madrid

2018-02-01 Thread Ignasi Barrera
Hi!

This is just a quick follow-up email.

We told the OpenExpo organizers about the people we have for the
event, but we are still waiting for their confirmation about the exact
talks, format, duration, etc. As soon as we have their feedback we'll
come back to you with all the details so everyone can prepare their
stuff, trips, etc.

I hope we have everything we need to know asap!

Apache THE central partner at Solutions.Hamburg ;-)

2018-02-01 Thread Christofer Dutz
Hi all …

just noticed that the ASF is mentioned quite prominently on the Partner page of
the Solutions.Hamburg 2018
https://solutions.hamburg/ (Just scroll down to “partners”)

Think we look really good in between all these big corporations ;-)

By the way … still looking for one or two people volunteering to help staff our
VIP Apache stand at the conference (3 days)
(Hope it will be more than just me ;-) … the after party you get to go to is
HUGE … just ask the others that helped last year)

@Bertrand your offer with the Keynote still stands?

Chris

Re: ApacheCon North America 2018, September 24-28, Montreal

Is there a guide on the kind of talks ApacheCons look for (45 minutes
is all I found so far). I haven't been to an ApacheCon before, but may
be interesting in submitting an Apache Solr talk (have presented at
other confs). I usually do beginner talks, but don't know if this is
from-zero, latest-features, from A to K, or any other kind of talk
that would be most useful.

Any advise/links would be appreciated, probably not just by me.

We try to do roughly half and half between intro and the more advanced
talks - half to get the newer folks to join us, and half to encourage
them on their path towards contributing to the projects themselves.

All talks will be roughly 50 minutes (45 + Q&A time).

The kind of talks that you mention are all appropriate for the audience
we tend to attract, but as a reviewer I'd probably personally lean
towards the more advanced end of the spectrum than the bare-bones intro
talks.

Alex.

More details will be coming as fast as we have them, but you can get started
