Re: [DISCUSS] Release Daffodil 3.8.0

2024-06-05 Thread Mike Beckerle
So 72 hours have elapsed on this discussion.

Steve suggested a couple ticket's PRs be merged before the release, and
those have been merged, so based on that
and lack of any further discussion I will volunteer to be the release
manager, and will create an RC1 and bring it up for
evaluation and voting subsequently.

Also, PR #1219 is probably worth merging. It's a one-line change and I don't
think is controversial, just needs another +1.

I think we should also include PR #1253, it's fairly small and can make schema
tests run much faster.

We also might want to merge all the dependabot/scala steward PRs. I'll go
through them today and then it should be quick for someone to give them all a +1
and merge.

If this discussion is positive I'll look into creating a release candidate

[DISCUSS] Release Daffodil 3.8.0

2024-05-31 Thread Mike Beckerle
There is one major feature in 3.8.0, the revised "layers" API.

I'd like to discuss releasing 3.8.0 shortly as this feature is complete.
