I have applied a patch to avoid generating the response when it's empty. That
should 'fix' the problem.

I still would like to ear about the openLDAP client and ApacheDS versions in
order to be sure the fix is enough.

Hello Emmanuel!

Thank you for this detailed explanation!
I reproduced it with ApacheDS 2.0.0.AM26.
Which exactly libraries do you want to know about?

libnss-ldap/focal 265-5ubuntu1 amd64
libpam-ldap/focal 186-4ubuntu1 amd64

I checked it with OpenLDAP Server. And it doesn't send this `response` value
with 0x8B.

Where I can grab the patched version for testing?

Regards,
Oleksandr

Fortress unit tests failure ?

2021-05-16 Thread Emmanuel Lécharny

Hi !

yesterday, I tried to launch a mvn clean install on fortress-cofre, but
it seems there is an issue with a LDAP server that is not available.

Should I use one of the QUICKSTART to run the tests ?

> So I noticed that nothing is showing up in my "Search Logs" and "Modification
> Logs" view. It is working just fine on Windows, but in MacOS, it's not. I am
> running MacOS 10.14.6
>
> I deleted my /Users/uid123/.ApacheDirectoryStudio directory, and reimported
> my connections (same lbc file I used on my Windows and Linux boxes).
>
> On my Linux box, I removed ~/.ApacheDirectoryStudio directory, imported the
> same connections LBC file, and the "Search Logs" view is working as expected.

[~elecharny] can you please take a look? PR
https://github.com/apache/directory-server/pull/49 introduces a {tmp} directory
in the instance layout to ensure it exist and is writeable. The linux based
installer tests still work and were updated. I also tested it on Windows 10.
But maybe I missed some unknown edge case or side effect.

Original commit in LDAP API:
https://github.com/apache/directory-ldap-api/commit/931f932b6983a8ba9daa3a8d085d8b5b4b2c9083.
This patch was built in
https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Directory/job/dir-ldap-api-pipeline/74/ and
deployed as LDAP API 2.0.2-SNAPSHOT .
That LDAP API snapshot should be included in ApacheDS pipeline
https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Directory/job/dir-server-pipeline/93/ or later.
Disclaimer: because snapshot versions are used one can never be sure if it's
really included.

I'd release the checkstyle-configuration-2.0.1 or to be more precise the
buildtools project, ok?

[VOTE] Release buildtools 2.0.1

2021-05-16 Thread Stefan Seelmann
Hi all,

this is a vote to release our buildtools and espcially the
checkstyle-configuration module.

The only relevant change is the removal of a property in the checkstyle
config that caused a crash with new checkstyle versions.

Git tag:
https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf?p=directory-buildtools.git;a=tag;h=refs/tags/2.0.1
https://github.com/apache/directory-buildtools/tree/2.0.1

Nexus staging repository:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachedirectory-1195/

Please cast your vote:
[ ] +1 : Yes, release buildtools 2.0.1
[ ] ± 0 : I don't care
[ ] -1 : No, don't release buildtools 2.0.1

Kind Regards,
Stefan
