Release check list

2019-01-31 Thread Huxing Zhang
Hi All,

Out mentor Justin has provided a check list[1] for release, which I
think it is a very good guide when doing release check for the ongoing
release vote for spring-boot-starter and dubbo-ops

Hopefully more users could know that what does an Apache release means
and what needs to be checked, and more importantly, could help to do
the checks.

Re: [VOTE]: Release Apache Dubbo Spring Boot Project (Incubating) 2.7.0

2019-01-31 Thread Mercy
Dubbo Spring Boot 2.7.0 provides some compatiable modules that are
compatible between Spring Boot 1.x and 2.x.

For example, dubbo-spring-boot-autoconfigure that is based on Spring
Boot Starter API and depends dubbo-spring-boot-autoconfigure-compatible,

thus *-compatible modules work well in Spring Boot 1.x, We just release
once for two versions of Spring Boot.

I see the version has been update to 2.7.0.
Personally I think this is better because it aligns with the Dubbo
version, which make user easier to figure out.
My question is how should we deal with Spring boot 2.x. and 1.x, does
this release contains support for both versions?

In the previous release, we have released 0.2.1 for spring-boot 2.x
and 0.1.2 for spring-boot 1.x.
Since we have Dubbo 2.7.x and 2.6.x, and Spring-boot 2.x and 1.x. I
will be difficult to maintain 2 * 2 versions.
So my suggestion is support spring-boot

*asc.sha512 file. As for starting ops without registry, I've recorded an
issue here: https://github.com/apache/incubator-dubbo-ops/issues/288.

Re: [VOTE]: Release Apache Dubbo OPS(Incubating) 0.1

2019-01-31 Thread Huxing Zhang
Hi,

I also found something that need to be fixed.

I checked:

- There is an extra file in the svn directory,
apache-dubbo-ops-incubating-0.1-source-release.zip.asc.sha512, which
can be removed
- We should add incubating in the file name.
- disclaimer exists
- LICENSE and NOTICE look good
- hash and signatures are good
- can compile from source
- could not run java -jar dubbo-admin-backend-0.1.jar, it says: no
main manifest attribute, in dubbo-admin-backend-0.1.jar
- could not start dubbo-admin if no registry available. I think it is
better not to block the user from startup even if no registry (like
Zookeeper) is available. We can display an empty page, and ask user to
connect to existing registry.

My basic idea is: since we are now formatting date and time in single

sake of convenience, We should distribute binary file too.
