Localization team. What kind of work do you think that it's still required?

If you want to contribute with fixes for the pt_PT you can create a patch with
all your changes instead of creating 1 issue per file.

It appears from a quick off list talk that you should tweak yourself the
flex-config.xml.

But that raises the question of where to document that, or if the SDK has to be
set with this minimum version at release time.

Hi William,

>From the 4.6, it's not obvious do to something, better is to get the SDK 4.9
>as you'll have more bug fixes/improvements.
Either you can download the SDK 4.9 from http://flex.apache.org/download.html
or wait for the installer 2.0, the RC3 is being voting, so, it should be
availlable very soon (what I recommend).

[jira] [Created] (FLEX-33347) DateSpinner dateAndTime jumping

2013-01-10 Thread JIRA
Fréderic Cox created FLEX-33347:
---

 Summary: DateSpinner dateAndTime jumping
 Key: FLEX-33347
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33347
 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Mobile: DateSpinner
Affects Versions: Adobe Flex SDK 4.6 (Release)
 Environment: Both mobile (iOS) and desktop (Mac) I've tested it
Reporter: Fréderic Cox

As reported on
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9126194/flex-mobile-4-6-datespinner-dateandtime-jumping-from-jan-31st-to-march-1st:

set the date in DateSpinner to January 30 or 31 (using mouse or touch)
click (mouse or touch) on February 1 (visible one or two rows below on the
DateSpinner)
The Datespinner does spin forward but does not stop at February 1: it jumps to
March 1. The same behavior can be observed with March 31 - mouse click on April
1 causes a jump to May 1; with May 31 - mouse click on June 1 jumping to July
1, and so on.

I suspect this behavior is related to the fact that the next month has less
days than the prior month (30 instead of 31, or 29 in the case of February
2012), but it is not the behavior that I would like to see when following these
two steps. Does anyone know a workaround or fix?

When the DateSpinner is set with displayMode as 'date' all is well, but that
doesn't work in my use case.

Also found another bug while testing your previous fix. Now when you set the
date on March 31st it won't jump to May 1st when you select April 1st. But when
you have the date set on 1st of April and then select the 31st of March (so you
go back) then it will jump to the 1st of March

Why is the fix not this? It works for my use-case and did not find a bug in my

[jira] [Created] (FLEX-33349) TypeError #1009 happening in dataProviderRefreshed() of List.as after a call to endItemEditorSession() in Spark Datagrid

2013-01-15 Thread JIRA
João Sérgio Nobre Saleiro created FLEX-33349:

 Summary: TypeError #1009 happening in dataProviderRefreshed() of
List.as after a call to endItemEditorSession() in Spark Datagrid
 Key: FLEX-33349
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33349
 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Spark: DataGrid
Affects Versions: Apache Flex 4.9.0
 Environment: All
Reporter: João Sérgio Nobre Saleiro

a) This RTE is quite hard to reproduce, and I wasn't able to build a simple
scenario to demonstrate it
b) It happens occasionally, in 20-30% of the tries
c) It happens after the user ends an itemEditorSession of a Spark ItemEditor
used in a Spark DataGrid.
d) It's a null error on line 1479 (dataProviderRefreshed) of List.as. dataGroup
is null when the function is called, causing the RTE.

The RTE follows below:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object
reference.

The problematic code follows below. dataGroup is null when the function is
called

public class List extends ListBase implements IFocusManagerComponent

const updateCompleteListenerA:Function = function():void {
dataGroup.removeEventListener(FlexEvent.UPDATE_COMPLETE,

Hello Carol - it's been a while, since Flex Summit :) .

I'm right now trying to isolate it, so I can build a simpler test case but I
haven't got anywhere yet. The only thing I've discovered in the meantime is
that this happens if a popup is created with PopupManager right after the
itemEditor saves, and only on the second change! Ironically, this use-case is
quite common in our application...

The internal workflow is:

a) the itemEditor has a ComboBox that the user changes
b) when the user focus out the editor, endItemEditorSession is called
c) the save method dispatches an Event, that bubbles up
d) the view behind it catches the Event, and decides whether to show a popup or
not
e) the second time the user changes an itemeditor that makes the popup appear,
the RTE appears. The null error is inside the SDK. I've tried to simplify the
code as much as possible, but it's hard to build a simple test case.

The (released) application is available here: http://www.boonzi.pt/demo . While
the site is in Portuguese, after you install and run the product you can choose
English.
To reproduce the error is quite simple, but it takes some steps:

1- Run the product, and choose to start the demo version (link on left-bottom)
2- Go to Transactions.
3- On the top-right, click the big icon with the arrow (import)
4- Click Next
5- Open the attached TXT file in a good text-editor and copy it to the
clipboard (Ctrl+C) (this is used to populate the datagrid)
7- Back to the product, press "import"
8- Press "Validate"
9- And this is where the magic happens. On the first row, write any text you
wish on the item editor of the column "category", and press Tab
10- A popup will appear. Press No
11- Click on the same cell you just changed, and change it's value. Press Tab
again

This is where the RTE happens. After posting this bug, I've discovered that I
can reproduce it quite consistently (99%!) using the above steps exactly as
described.

More info: the application is now in Apache Flex 4.9 with Air 3.5 overlayed.
Before, we were using Flex 4.6 (with the default AIR), and the problem was
already there. Since we didn't know the steps to reproduce it (we were
receiving two or three daily reports from clients/testers without stack info),
we weren't sure where to start looking for. After yesterday, we changed to Flex
4.9 with Air 3.5 and since 3.5 now shows stack traces in release version, today
we were able to track the error, but not yet the solution.

I'm also working on this one, trying to isolate it so I can provide more
accurate info. If you have some tips/suggestions, I'm here to try them!

The more I dig, the weirder it gets.
I was able (I think) to avoid the RTE, but I don't really understand why and
most importantly, the cause.

Also, while the null error is happening in List.as, I'm now not really sure if
this is related to Spark Datagrid. When the error happens, "this" points to
"global", and nothing on the stack trace tells me which instance created
updateCompleteListenerA - so it might not be the Datagrid.

Here's how I was able to avoid the RTE:

a) As I said above, ending the itemEditor session makes the parent component
show a popup. The error happens the second time the popup shows.
b) Knowing this, I put a breakpoint before the showing the popup, for the
second time
c) When the code reaches:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(autoFillTransactionConfirmationView, this, true);   , the
error happens
d) autoFillTransactionConfirmationView is created on the first run, and reused
on the second run. So I've tried NOT reusing it. In other words, on the second
run, and creating a new instance of autoFillTransactionConfirmationView
e) guess what: no error!

To make things even more confusing... before "fixing" the code, I've discovered
something that doesn't make any sense at all: if, on the second change, I edit
any other itemEditor that triggers the popup (that reuses the instance of
autoFillTransactionConfirmationView), the error doesn't happen. It only happens
when I edit the same itemEditor twice!

While I think the above workaround is working, I'm not 100% comfortable with
not understanding what's happening here... My brain hurts...

Nope, my fix DIDN'T work. Or, it "half-worked".

In other words, it seems to work in:

- Windows, debug version
- MacOS, both in debug and release version

it doesn't work in:

- Windows, release version

Ok, I have now plenty more information to update this issue. The List.as where
the null error occurs is the ComboBox inside the itemEditor. So the scenario is
the following:

1- A Spark Datagrid has an itemEditor
2- The itemEditor has an (editable) ComboBox binded to ArrayCollection "ac"
3- By default, the selectedItem of the Combobox is null
4- The user can choose an item of the ComboBox, or write a new String
5- When he focus out, the itemEditor calls the save() method that dispatches an
event
6- The outside component catches the event, and checks if the user wrote a
String. If he did, the String is converted to an Object
7- This new object is added to "ac", and ac.refresh() is explicitely called.
8- This new object is also assigned to the item that the Combobox selectedItem
is binded to, so the ComboBox selectedItem also changes
9- The refresh on "ac" forces the call of dataProviderRefreshed() on List.as of
the Combobox - but ONLY on the second change (still need to understand this one)
10- In the meantime, a modal popup might appear, asking some stuff to the user.
When the modal opens, updateCompleteListenerA is called and that's where all
hell breaks loose, due to dataGroup being null in
dataGroup.removeEventListen[...] of List.as  .

In other words, it's a ComboBox inside an itemEditor that triggers a RTE when
it's dataProvider is refreshed while a popup is shown for the second time with
PopupManager.

Weird stuff:

a) If, in step 10, the modal DOESN'T reuse the same same instance (it's a new
instance everytime addPopup is called), the error doesn't happen
b) If, in step 10, I decide not to show the modal, the error can still happen
by simply changing the currentState of a another component (it's a simple group
with label) that has . I'm still investigating and trying to
understand this scenario.

I when i go to adobe bugbase webpage it is written that they will remove
permanently their flex bugbase.
Does that means that there'll not have any support for flex 3 in the future ?

 Summary: spark.collections.Sort crashs on PepperFlash (Chrome) on
Mac
 Key: FLEX-33365
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33365
 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Spark: Sort and SortField
 Environment: Mac OS Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Google Chrome 24.0.1312.56
PepperFlash 11.5.31.137
Reporter: Aurélien Baroiller

When sorting an ArrayCollection based on an string property using the
spark.collections.Sort class, it throws a TypeError #2007.

It works when using the mx.collections.Sort instead of spark.collections.Sort.
It works when sorting on an numeric property (even with spark.collections.Sort).

The only case where it crashs is :
- Mac Os,
- Google Chrome with PepperFlash
- sorting on string property.

All other cases work :
- Windows (even with PepperFlash on Chrome),
- All browsers (even Chrome on Mac if not using PepperFlash)
- sorting on numeric property (even Chrome on Mac with PepperFlash)

PepperFlash version is 11.5.31.137.
(http://www.odandb.com/flex/BugSparkSort/screenshot-chrome-plugins.png)

If i test on Mac OSX 10.7.5, i have the same issue.

No stack trace available because this version of Flash Player isn't a debugger.
In my try catch, e.getStackTrace() return null, and e.toString() return
'TypeError: Error #2007

PepperFlash version is 11.5.31.137.
(http://www.odandb.com/flex/BugSparkSort/screenshot-chrome-plugins.png)

If i test on Mac OSX 10.7.5, i have the same issue.

No stack trace available because this version of Flash Player isn't a debugger.
In my try catch, e.getStackTrace() return null, and e.toString() return
"TypeError: Error #2007"

 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Internationalization
Affects Versions: Apache Flex 4.9.0
Reporter: Frédéric THOMAS
Assignee: Frédéric THOMAS
 Fix For: Apache Flex 4.10.0

What you can do as a quick workaround is to monkey patch the PopUpManagerImpl
and in the mx_internal function createModalWindow, add under the line:

const screen:Rectangle = sm.screen;
screen.x = -1;

As I mention it before, if you need a non modal windows to be sticked at x=0,
you can monkey patch the PopUpManagerImpl and it'll work, I don't want apply it
as a fix because to me, the code is good, now, to know if it is a player issue
or something else, it needs to be dig into more deeply, I would like as well
the point of you of other committers at this point.

The only trick you have to know with monkey patches is that the patch has to be
in your main app, same package than the original and you have to compile with
the option merge into memory.

Thanks for reporting.

[jira] [Created] (FLEX-33379) Error 1009 in addModalPopUpAccessibility

2013-02-02 Thread JIRA

 Summary: Error 1009 in addModalPopUpAccessibility
 Key: FLEX-33379
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33379
 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: PopUp Manager
Affects Versions: Apache Flex 4.9.0

Reporter: João Sérgio Nobre Saleiro

Null check missing in addModalPopUpAccessibility().
I can't reproduce this consistently, but sporadically I get error reports from
users.
The application where this is happening has accessibility turned off (but it
doesn't mean it's the cause)

Thanks Alex for sorting that out.

I didn't completly absorbe and digest all the informations here yet, where
should I set a break point to see it by myself please ?

>Most other code should be using stageWidth instead of stage.width so they
>shouldn't be affected by such a change.
 Don't you mean the opposite ? (I always thought the stage.with represented the
content size and the stageWith, only all the area I can see)

Does it mean the idea of extending to -1 the modal transparent rectangle is not
a bad idea ?

Ok, thank you, I've been able to see the same things.

What do you mean by border, I was about to do something like that :
g.clear();
g.beginFill(c, 100);
g.drawRect(screen.x-1, screen.y-1, screen.width+1,
screen.height+1);
g.endFill();

Should I do something like that instead:
g.clear();
g.beginFill(c, 100);
g.drawRect(screen.x, screen.y, screen.width,
screen.height);
g.endFill();

g.lineStyle(1, c, 100, true);
g.moveTo(-1,-1);
g.lineTo(-1, screen.height+1);
g.lineTo(screen.width+1,screen.height+1);
g.lineTo(screen.width+1,-1);

Yes, correct, damn it :)

lol, you're confusing me again, the corners of the screen are always square,
right ?

and one more point, what's the difference between that:

g.clear();
g.beginFill(c, 100);
g.lineStyle(1, c, 100, true);
g.drawRect(screen.x, screen.y, screen.width, screen.height);
g.endFill();

and that: g.drawRect(screen.x-1, screen.y-1, screen.width+2, screen.height+2);

> One of the most executed calls during the lifetime of a Flex UIComponent is
> the matching of style declarations (i.e. state change, component
> initialization, etc).
> As such, it is one that the community has monkey-patched often in order to
> attain speed-ups even for just a little.
> This is one of the improvements done to achieve that end. Instead of doing
> method calls to the different style classes (i.e. CSSCondition, CSSSelector,
> CSSStyleDeclaration), the StyleProtoChain class has been modified to perform
> matching inline as much as possible.
> The implementation is not perfect and I'm sure it can be improved further
> with the help of the bigger community. For example, the
> matchingDecls.sortOn("selectorIndex", Array.NUMERIC) call could be improve to
> use one of the faster sort algorithms out there. There are also some methods
> calls that are not inlined.

[jira] [Created] (FLEX-33398) ComboBox loses selectedItem when dataProvider dispatch reset event

2013-02-15 Thread JIRA
João Fernandes created FLEX-33398:
-

 Summary: ComboBox loses selectedItem when dataProvider dispatch
reset event
 Key: FLEX-33398
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLEX-33398
 Project: Apache Flex
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: mx: ComboBox
Reporter: João Fernandes

During a reset Event, combobox does reset the selectedItem but doesn't respect
the fact the current selectedItem might be included in the new source.

What I propose is to change

 else if (ce.kind == CollectionEventKind.RESET)
{
collectionChanged = true;
if (!selectedIndexChanged && !selectedItemChanged)
selectedIndex = prompt ? -1 : 0;
invalidateProperties();
}

to
 else if (ce.kind == CollectionEventKind.RESET)
{
collectionChanged = true;
if (!selectedIndexChanged && !selectedItemChanged &&
!collection.contains(selectedItem))
selectedIndex = prompt ? -1 : 0;
invalidateProperties();

I am unable to reproduce it anymore.
I experienced it on a fresh Apache FLEX SDK 4.9 installation (done with the
installer). No reboot was done when I tested, maybe it was the source of the
problem?

Anyway I find a test project where the problem occurs.
This project contains an useless declaration (in the main mxml application file
- default.css file doesn't exist in the project):

This declaration has no impact on FLEX 4.6 / AIR 3.1 but it breaks mobile
scrolling on FLEX 4.9 / AIR 3.4

Alex the problem is that collection is ICollectionView so we don't have many
options to find the current selected object and in my opinion the combobox
shouldn't reset the current selected item just because there was a refresh in
it's dataProvider. If the selectedItem still exists in the new dataProvider, I
think the selection should be maintained.

It seems to be fixed already as "UI fix for license screen (show regular
checkboxes)" =, I can't find the related JIRA but that's going to be included
in the SDK Installer 2.5.
I will test it today and probably make a RC soon, I suggest you to keep your
eyes at the dev list if you want a chance to try it and vote for the release.

This is visible when you resize the window. Not sure if the logo should be
there; a grey background is probably good to fill the bottom bar. The log
entries are now in a List; perhaps this should just be a text area so you
can directly select (parts of) the text.

A "copy log" button was already here to copy all lines to the clipboard.
I added the possibility to choose the lines you want to copy to the clipboard.

The title bar says "Install Apache Flex for use with Adobe Flash Builder".
  I thought we were trying to be more generic.

I propose then: Install Apache Flex x.x.x for use with your IDE
