new committer and PMC member: Brian Dube

2007-05-22 Thread David Crossley
The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache Forrest
has asked Brian Dube to become a committer and member of
the PMC, and we are pleased to announce that he has accepted.

The process is still happening to get the account established,
The ASF is a volunteer organisation and things take time.

Brian has been in this community for a long while, late 2004 IIRC.
He helps users and other developers. His answers indicate that
he understands Forrest well. Brian's approach demonstrates a
co-operative manner and commitment to the project's well-being.

Welcome Brian, and thanks for whatever you manage to help with.

Being a committer enables easier contribution to the
project since there is no need to go via the patch
submission process. This should enable better productivity.
Being a PMC member enables assistance with the management
and to guide the direction of the project.

I can't reproduce this either. The issue is with a fresh seed of which
version?

I agree that is what the screenshot shows, my investigations of doing my
own forrest seed , forrest seed-sample showed otherwise and the seed that
runs on our forrest zone every hour shows the same as what I get.

Mind you none of this will

I agree

The system simply doesn't work the way it

I'll take a look. Can you take a look at the example on zones and let me
know if it is different to what to you get, it sure looks like it to me from
your screenshot. Just trying to understand that's all.

Check out the screenshot: When a site works ok. the current tab is shown in
blue and the current menu item is open, visible and emphasized. When you look
at the screenshot the Home tab is blue (wrong), both subtabs are blue (wrong
and impossible) and the menu shows the typical signs of a broken system (all
menus visible, none open). Mind you none of this will make Forrest site or run
fail. The system simply doesn't work the way it is supposed to work. Look for
my previous postings on site.xml and tab.xml if you want more of an explanation.

Gavin commented on FOR-1001:

I just tried this from trunk, created a new 'forrest seed' and then 'forrest
run' -- works fine for me. Also did a 'forrest seed-sample' and works fine too.

I was going to attach an image but then remembered that our zone builds a
'forrest seed' from fresh-site every hour and so would display your error if
anything was wrong.

http://forrest.zones.apache.org/ft/build/forrest-seed/samples/sample.html

Have you altered anything locally , /main/fresh-site/ perhaps ??
