When I tried to assemble a appliction centric custom server from gshell, I
can not find geronimo plugin group: framework.
 I followed the following steps:
 1. start geronimo server (geronimo-tomcat6-javaee5-2.2-SNAPSHOT-bin.zip,
build 20081229), install my sample application (servlet-examples-war
2.1.1.1), and then convert the sample application into plugin in admin console
 2. cd geronimo-home\bin
 3. gsh.bat
 4. deploy/assemble
 5. select 2 for application centric
In the listed plugins(see the attachment for the screenshot), I can not find
geronimo plugin group: framework. Then I only selected my sample application
(servlet-examples-war 2.1.1.1) to continue the server assembly. I assume the
framework plugin group is added into my custom server by default although I
can not see it and select it from the list, but finally I only got three
folders in my custom server: schema, repository, and var.

Although the assembled server (Framework + Web Service Axis2) has other problem
like it can not be stopped successfully, as suggested it will be covered in new
JIRA, and this one can be closed now.

I tested the following scenario in geronimo-tomcat6-javaee5-2.2-SNAPSHOT
 (build 20081229).
 1. start geronimo server
 2. install two sample applications in admin console: cviewer.war and
 servlet-examples.war
 3. I turn servlet-examples.war into plugin, and intend to assemble a custom
 server for this application
 4. cd geronimo-home/bin
 5. gsh.bat
 6. deploy/assemble
 7. select 2 for application centric, and type group/artifact name
Then I get the following error msg:
Listing application plugins from the local Geronimo server
ERROR IllegalStateException: No configuration found for
 'com.ibm.wasce.samples/cviewer/2.1.1.1/car'
I intent to create custom server for sample application named
servlet-examples, so I didn't turn cviewer into plugin. But I was blocked by
 cviewer.

Assemble a custom server with following steps:
 - start geronimo server (either jetty or tomcat version)
 - login admin console
 - start server assembly by selecting function centric
 - select only Framework group, and complete the assembly following portlet
 instruction
 - stop geronimo server
 - start custom server just created with start-server.bat (custom server can
 be started successfully)
 - stop custom server with stop-server.bat or shutdown.bat, exception msg
occurs in command window, and the custom server is still up.
I tried in both 20081229 and 20081230 build, and log file will be attached.

I tested the following scenario in geronimo-tomcat6-javaee5-2.2-SNAPSHOT
 (build 20081229).
 1. start geronimo server
 2. install two sample applications in admin console: cviewer.war and
 servlet-examples.war
 3. I turn servlet-examples.war into plugin, and intend to assemble a custom
 server for this application
 4. cd geronimo-home/bin
 5. gsh.bat
 6. deploy/assemble
 7. select 2 for application centric, and type group/artifact name
Then I get the following error msg:
Listing application plugins from the local Geronimo server
ERROR IllegalStateException: No configuration found for
 'com.ibm.wasce.samples/cviewer/2.1.1.1/car'
I intent to create custom server for sample application named
servlet-examples, so I didn't turn cviewer into plugin. But I was blocked by
 cviewer.

During the release of the GEP 2.1.0 we encountered problems with the
xpp3-1.1.3.4.O.jar file when trying to create a new dynamic web problem
(i.e., unhandled event condition). Need to investigate and understand why so
that we can use the same version of this artifact that the server is using.

Forrest,

Yes, that should work. Have you looked at
testsuite/webservices-testsuite/jaxrpc-jaxws-tests tests? Maybe that
will help.

[DISCUSS] 2.2 release targets .... slip-sliding away

2009-01-06 Thread Joe Bohn

We were planning (hoping) to branch the 2.2 release this Friday (1/9)
with a release candidate the following week (1/16). It's now looking
like that is far from happening. We still have a number of tck issues
to resolve and dependencies on other projects that first must be released.

As I see it, these are the major issues that must be resolved (see
http://cwiki.apache.org/GMOxPMGT/geronimo-22-release-status.html for a
complete list):

1. Axis2 1.5 (and dependencies) must be released. - Jarek
2. CXF 2.1.4 must be released. - Jarek
3. xBean 3.5 must be released. - Anybody (Joe will cover if necessary)
4. geronimo-jaspi and jaspi spec must be released or removed - David J.
5. ActiveMQ 5.3 must be released (after tck issues are resolved) David J.
6. OpenEJB 3.1.1 must be released (after tck issues are resolved) David B.
7. selenium-maven-plugin 1.0 must be released (or we live with the FF3
issues and revert). Jason D.
8. All tck issues must be resolved and we hope to certify using 1.6
Jason W. coordinating this.

Those are the major issues as I see it. There are other functions still
being worked (such as custom assemblies, plugin profiles, doc, samples,
gshell enhancements and possible release, Genesis possible release,
taglibs jstl possible release, etc...) ... but I think the issues
listed above are the show stoppers and the long pole items that will
dictate the schedule.

So the question is this: Do we think that we can resolve these issues
and deliver a release candidate yet this month? I think we would need
to branch no later than 1/23 to make this happen - just a little over
2.5 weeks. We would need all dependencies released and all tck issues
resolved by then to make it happen. Do you think this is feasible?

Thanks,
Joe

In Custom server assebmly portlet, the function Filter by category and
name seems stop working when I type console, but it works well on other
words like tomcat, dojo, etc. I test in both IE 7 and firefox 3.0.4.

Lin Sun updated GERONIMO-4488:
--

Summary: Framework assembly can not be stopped successfully (was: Custom
server containing only Framework can not be stopped successfully)

I found an easier way to reproduce this. Just go to
trunk/assemblies/geronimo-framework/target/assembly/bin, start the server and
stop the server. So this is nothing related to custom server assembly.

Searching for resources in MultiParentClassLoader is not fully optimized

 Key: GERONIMO-4497

  Security Level: public (Regular issues)

Reporter: Tim McConnell
Assignee: Tim McConnell
 Fix For: 2.1.4, 2.2

In one failing scenario, the BIRT reporting engine is invoked with an XML data
file to generate a PDF report file. MultiParentClassLoader.getResource() is
invoked many times to search for various XML resources (e.g.,
DocumentBuilderFactory). MultiParentClassLoader searches through the current
classloader and all the parent classloaders, which it should, but this can take
a considerable amount of time if the resource is never found. It seems that
once a resource has been searched for and not found, there is no need to search
for it again in the same classloader hierarchy.

tck issues to resolve and dependencies on other projects that first
must be released.

As I see it, these are the major issues that must be resolved (see http://cwiki.apache.org/GMOxPMGT/geronimo-22-release-status.html
 for a complete list):

1. Axis2 1.5 (and dependencies) must be released. - Jarek
2. CXF 2.1.4 must be released. - Jarek
3. xBean 3.5 must be released. - Anybody (Joe will cover if necessary)
4. geronimo-jaspi and jaspi spec must be released or removed - David
J.
5. ActiveMQ 5.3 must be released (after tck issues are resolved)
David J.
6. OpenEJB 3.1.1 must be released (after tck issues are resolved)
David B.
7. selenium-maven-plugin 1.0 must be released (or we live with the
FF3 issues and revert). Jason D.
8. All tck issues must be resolved and we hope to certify using 1.6
Jason W. coordinating this.

Those are the major issues as I see it. There are other functions
still being worked (such as custom assemblies, plugin profiles, doc,
samples, gshell enhancements and possible release, Genesis possible
release, taglibs jstl possible release, etc...) ... but I think the
issues listed above are the show stoppers and the long pole items
that will dictate the schedule.

So the question is this: Do we think that we can resolve these
issues and deliver a release candidate yet this month? I think we
would need to branch no later than 1/23 to make this happen - just a
little over 2.5 weeks. We would need all dependencies released and
all tck issues resolved by then to make it happen. Do you think
this is feasible?

Given the length of the list and current TCK status (tck progress will
need to precede some of those releases), I'd say that it's doubtful...
But would maintain it's a good goal.

Re: [DISCUSS] 2.2 release targets .... slip-sliding away

2009-01-06 Thread Donald Woods
A release this month is looking doubtful given all the SNAPSHOT
dependencies we have, but I'd suggest we keep trying for a release this
month by reviewing the status each Thursday on dev@ and either continue
working towards branching or send out the 24 hour branch notice if we're
getting close.

I tested the following scenario in geronimo-tomcat6-javaee5-2.2-SNAPSHOT
 (build 20081229).
 1. start geronimo server
 2. install two sample applications in admin console: cviewer.war and
 servlet-examples.war
 3. I turn servlet-examples.war into plugin, and intend to assemble a custom
 server for this application
 4. cd geronimo-home/bin
 5. gsh.bat
 6. deploy/assemble
 7. select 2 for application centric, and type group/artifact name
Then I get the following error msg:
Listing application plugins from the local Geronimo server
ERROR IllegalStateException: No configuration found for
 'com.ibm.wasce.samples/cviewer/2.1.1.1/car'
I intent to create custom server for sample application named
servlet-examples, so I didn't turn cviewer into plugin. But I was blocked by
 cviewer.

Chi Runhua closed GERONIMO-4490.

   Resolution: Invalid
Fix Version/s: 2.2

1) about quit option, there is one when user are selecting plugins to
install, so I think it's acceptable.

2) about other options, try deploy/assemble --help and available arguments will
show up with description. Because there are no default values for server
groupId and artifact name, user will be prompted to input them if using
deploy/assemble directly.

Thanks for clarification, so closing the issue.

[jira] Resolved: (GERONIMO-4015) Protecting EJB based Web services but excluding wsdl from the protection

Jarek Gawor resolved GERONIMO-4015.
---

   Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version/s: 2.2

I added support for specifying a list of http methods that should be secured
when invoking ejb-based web service (see revision 732217 and 732219). With that
you can omit the GET method and therefore allow unsecure WSDL access. Here's an
example:

{noformat}
ejb:enterprise-beans
ejb:session
ejb:ejb-nameTest/ejb:ejb-name
ejb:web-service-security

Protecting EJB based Web services but excluding wsdl from the protection

 Key: GERONIMO-4015
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-4015
 Project: Geronimo
  Issue Type: New Feature
  Security Level: public(Regular issues)
  Components: OpenEJB, webservices
Reporter: Rafael Thomas Goz Coutinho
Assignee: Jarek Gawor
Priority: Minor
 Fix For: 2.2

When we protect a Web service using HTTP Basic authentication we protect all
access to that Webservice endpoint URL even to the generated WSDL.
When exposing a POJO based webservices using a Web project the usual work
around is to set the http-method to only protect POST requests. So the GET to
the wsdl will not be protected.
However when exposing an EJB based Webservice we can not configure that, so
the wsdl is always protected for POST or GET requests.
It would be nice if we could change that...
here is a example of the EJB WS security deployment plan:
 ejb:enterprise-beans
   ejb:session
   ejb:ejb-nameTest/ejb:ejb-name
   ejb:web-service-security
   ejb:security-realm-name
   WSTest
   /ejb:security-realm-name

 ejb:transport-guaranteeNONE/ejb:transport-guarantee
   ejb:auth-methodBASIC/ejb:auth-method
   /ejb:web-service-security
   /ejb:session
   /ejb:enterprise-beans
No place for defining the HTTP method.

Re: Can we use JAX-RPC and JAX-WS in the same time in a JEE application?

2009-01-06 Thread Forrest_Xia

Jarek,

That testsuite samples do help, and I make progress. But I am stopped by a
new problem: how to code to access the jax-ws web service?

What I want to achieve is not to use static wsdl in any configuration file,
while let axis2 engine generate it at runtime. So I did following changes:
1. Add a webservice-description to WEB-INF/webservices.xml like this:
webservice-description
webservice-description-nameTrade JAX-WS
Impl/webservice-description-name
port-component
port-component-nameTradeJWSPort/port-component-name
wsdl-serviceTradeJWSService/wsdl-service
enable-mtomfalse/enable-mtom

service-endpoint-interfaceorg.apache.geronimo.samples.daytrader.jaxws.Trade/service-endpoint-interface
service-impl-bean
servlet-linkTradeImplwJAXWS/servlet-link
/service-impl-bean
/port-component
/webservice-description
2. Then in a proxy code, I write as follows to try to get the web service
port.
code
Service service = null;
QName portName = null;
try {
  URL wsdlLoc = new URL(TradeConfig.getSoapURL());
  QName serviceName = new
QName(http://jaxws.daytrader.samples.geronimo.apache.org;,
TradeJWSService);
portName = new
QName(http://jaxws.daytrader.samples.geronimo.apache.org;, TradeJWSPort);
  service = Service.create(wsdlLoc, serviceName); // line 45 of
TradeImplwJAXWSProxy.java

} catch (MalformedURLException e) {
Log.error(e, TradeImplwJAXWSProxy throws
MalformedURLException);
}
return
(org.apache.geronimo.samples.daytrader.jaxws.Trade)service.getPort(portName,
org.apache.geronimo.samples.daytrader.jaxws.Trade.class);
/code

Then when I try to call it, an exception like this thrown out:
javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: An attempt was made to construct the
ServiceDelegate object with an service name that is not valid:

Why aren't these links? Its pointless IMO to add items to nav pages

Re: xbean 3.5 release?

2009-01-06 Thread Joe Bohn

So can somebody push a release for 3.5? Are there active issues that need to
be resolved prior to a 3.5 release (I've seen some Geronimo JIRAs that might
be xbean issues)?

If nobody volunteers to push a 3.5 release I guess that I could do it given
that I am a committer on Geronimo. However, it seems inappropriate given
that I haven't been contributing to xbean directly but I'll do it if
you want me to (or if nobody else volunteers). We need to get this going
ASAP for our Geronimo 2.2 plans.

Thanks,
Joe

As many of you already know from the Geronimo dev list - we're looking to

xbean-finder, xbean-naming, and xbean-reflect. Any possibility we could
 get
an xBean 3.5 release within the next few weeks?
