Can the ProviderLocator skip looking in classpaths in an osgi environment?

2010-05-16 Thread David Jencks
I'm running into a situation where the ProviderLocator code seems to be getting
into an endless loop inside felix somewhere when it is trying the non-osgi
strategy of classloader.getResources(). The classloader in question is a
xbean-bundleutils bundle classloader.

I'm wondering why we need to search the classpath in an osgi environment. If
we just used the registry when it is available and used classpath searching
when it is not, under what circumstances would this give incorrect results?

If there is such an environment would it make any sense to be able to turn off
classpath searching in geronimo?

thanks
david jencks

[jira] Commented: (GERONIMO-5206) Assembly may start failed when server-security-config car is not assembled

The server-security-config is related to .properties file realm defined for
Geronimo, the solution for this JIRA would be really simple,

We can make server-security-config plugin as an explicit dependency of
j2ee-securty in pom.xml.

I can provide a patch if the solution is acceptable.

Console and OSGi

2010-05-16 Thread chi runhua
Hi devs,

Since Geronimo supports both OSGi and Aries applications as well as Java EE
apps as always, I think we might need certain portlets for OSGI/Aries
features.

I can think of following items to improve the console:
1. Bundles/EBA/WBA installation -- Will we leverage current Deployer
portlet?
2. Bundle repository management -- Will we leverage current
repository/plugins portlets?
3. Blueprint status - this one might require a new portlet?

And we are planning to re-org the console in 3.0, it would be a good start
to figure out which portlets might be required for new OSGi/Aries features.
Likewise, we could have a clearer view for G3.0 documents.

Any comments?

Jeff C
