Re: Geronimo v1.2 documentation
Yeah, that's the first I found from the list, at that time I was using the beta RC that's why the "revision" instead of snapshot. Either way, it's not that the people reading it wont understand, but rather it's because it will look better. Plus, if for any reason you fail following those instructions then you, as a user, will get the feeling that the entire documentation is not reflecting the actual status of the software released. So far, the doc may no be complete but at least reflects what's in the final release and I would prefer to keep it this way (hopefully more complete) for the upcoming releases. Cheers! Cheers! Hernan This is a good idea. The Apache HTTP Server maintains a file named "CHANGES" in the top level of each server branch in SVN for this purpose. Check it out here: http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/CHANGES_2.2 When a developer commits an interesting change (from an Apache HTTPD user's perspective), he will check in a quick description in CHANGES at the same time. Apache HTTPD users know to check out the CHANGES files to get a quick rundown on a new release. This is a practice worthy of emulating, in my biased humble opinion :-) Notes: - CHANGES grows as a stack, with newer stuff at the beginning of the file - Security fixes are prefixed with the word "SECURITY:" Tracking security fixes in the CHANGES file with this simple convention eliminates an amazing number of user questions. Re: Geronimo v1.2 documentation
As I said, this doc update should not get in your way to finish whatever you are currently working on for G v1.1.1. I think it would be better to have those doc you guys are working on finished before jumping to v1.2 doc. I "branched" v1.1 doc, that's the GMOxDOC12 space. I removed all the translations from this space in an attempt to reduce the footprint. Later on I will create a separate space to hold the translations. If we manage to get all the content updated before the G v1.2 release and the exported doc footprint is not too big I think it would be cool to ship it in or along with G v1.2 ( like a separate .zip or something ) I will start another thread to identify all the new/improved stuff we included in this new release (a.k.a. Summary of changes) Cheers!
