HI [~alfonso.nishikawa]

Since there are many datastores I thought that maybe I could send a pull
request for each datastore instead of a huge pull request with all, I believed
that it would be easier to review.

For now, I the XSD validation is performed in the initialization (public void
initialize(..)) of the datastore and it uses a local XSD file and I think this
should not cause any network issues. But, I like to get your feedback, I do not
if this is the correct implementation.

Best,

Gaby

HI.

I took a look to the last datastore added to GoraExplorer : KUDU in these
commits [Commit
1|https://bitbucket.org/alfonsonishikawa/goraexplorer/commits/29ca730b703bfbf18986da8d48426b93af92c944]
 and [Commit 2
|https://bitbucket.org/alfonsonishikawa/goraexplorer/commits/064892aed37025848febcd5f4952dd4ad5ea0d87]

and I tried to reproduce those changes for Ignite, but I got this error:
"Mapping file 'gora-ignite-mapping.xml' could not be found!"

After some research and comparison with KUDU I noticed that the method for
reading the mapping was a little different in Ignite, so I changed it and it
solved the problem, I sent a [pull
request|https://github.com/apache/gora/pull/228] for this, please check it if
you can, I hope I did not break anything.

Hi [~lewismc] [~alfonso.nishikawa]

I submitted a draft pull request for this issue, I implemented XSD schema file
for the Lucene datastore I like if you can give some comments: [Draft for
Lucene|https://github.com/apache/gora/pull/227]

I added the XSD validation in the method private LuceneMapping
readMapping(String filename) , is it correct?.

Also do you know how I can add URI's to the XSD files? it is mentioned on the
description of the issue but I do not know how it works.

Once I improve this XSD implementation for Lucene I can continue with the other
datastores.

Regards,

Gaby

Hi [~lewismc]

I am still interested in addressing this issue.

I gave a look to the xml mapping files, searching on github 'xml mapping' and
filtering only the xml files, and I noticed they are all different. For
instance, the tag used for mapping of a class can be called 'table' or 'class',
and its attributes 'attribute', 'field', 'column', depending the datastore.

So, I think that I have to create a XSD file for each datastore right?. Or I
can create a single XSD and create a independent set of elements for each
datastore by using a different namespaces. What do you think is the best
solution?

Moreover, I think that I should add a validation when the xml mappings are
parsed, where can I find this?.

Also, I only found xml mapping files in tests, are these the only files that
need to be validated using XSD?.

Regards,

Gaby

I am Gaby Ortiz and my initial application for the Outreach program was
accepted today. I was checking out the projects list and this project seems to
be a good fit for my knowledge background. I studied software engineering a
couple years ago and in my final project at the University I worked with graph
databases such as Jena TDB, Virtuoso and GraphDB for a Linked Data project. I
was checking out Neo4j and the basic concepts are the same, then I would like
to apply for this project. I have experience working with the Java programming
language and related tools such as maven, gradle, testcontainers, etc. And I am
familiar with NoSQL databases (especially graph-based).

I was wondering which should be my next steps?. I saw a list of warm-up tasks
in the Outreachy platform, how can I be assigned one of those tasks in order to
get started with Apache Gora?. Do you have suggestions or guidelines that I
should consider before applying for this project?
