Re: Heads up: 2.4.0RC0
Update. On the thread "HEAD-UP: Merging HBASE-18070 "Enable memstore replication for meta replica" to master and then back to branch-2" I was asked to wait so the participants in that discussion can resolve a misunderstanding. I hope and encourage a timely resolution to the conflict so we can all be unblocked, thank you in advance. On Mon, Nov 16, 2020 at 7:45 AM Andrew Purtell wrote: > Spinning the bits today. Re: Heads up: 2.4.0RC0
HBASE-18070 has been merged. The 2.4.0 RC0 cuts Monday. Thank you everyone in advance for your patience. Unfortunately due to the Thanksgiving holiday the work week will be short, but I hope there will be sufficient +1 votes (and no significant issues, or -1 votes) by the end of the month to support a release at that time -- 30/11/2020. Re: Heads up: 2.4.0RC0
Updates A security issue in a third party dependency has been raised as a concern. We need a new release of hbase-thirdparty, 3.4.1, to complete, before 2.4.0 RC0 can be built. At this point we are waiting for that release to happen. HBASE-25242 was marked as a blocker but it is not actually a blocker. In my judgement as RM it is a nice to have. A blocker would be a critical regression or compatibility break or violation of Apache Foundation policy. I reduced priority to what it should be IMHO, 'Major'. There might be time to get it in because we are already waiting for the release of hbase-thirdparty 3.4.1. I would encourage the parties engaged in code review on PR #2630 to move with all deliberate haste if you want it to get in. Re: Heads up: 2.4.0RC0
Another update. I moved HBASE-25019 out, to 2.5. It is an issue where a Maven bug might strip the executable bit from scripts. I can check this manually when reviewing the bits for 2.4.0 RC0. I don't think missing executable bits are sufficient to sink a release though I agree it is inconvenient. I can fix this by hand and repack tarballs before calculating checksums on those tarballs unless someone finds that objectionable. (And agreed up front that is not a real solution.)
