Hi Peter,

I have now over half a dozen of locales of people that have used the
http://www.it46.se/localegen tool that we will like to send into OOo and
CLDR.

I will try to get up and running the converter tool from the CVS and
send you the locales in cldr format.

I have one issue regarding Igbo, their calendar has 4 days in a week.
How should i address their calendar both in OOo and CLDR?

If any other groups want to submit new locales please refer to the
Localgen, i will try to push them into CLDR if we get them via ther
tool before Wednesday 13.00 PM (GMT) next week

Re: [l10n-dev] Improvement of the OOo windows installer translation quality

2006-03-06 Thread Ivo Hinkelmann

Hi,

to prevent any legal problems you must not reuse that microsoft strings,
please translate them yourself. I am not a lawyer but it sounds not good
to me and the last thing we need is a law suit caused by windows
installer strings

Cheers,
Ivo

However, be careful when you process these glossaries. Read the licence.
I think it is OK to use the translated strings in OOo, because English
string are also used in OOo anyway. But I'm not sure you are allowed to
make TMX from them. Distribution is prohibited for sure.

I understand that it is not possible to make TMXs out of the MS Glossaries:

Is there any program that would let me search for a given string in a CSV
file?

I have this script that lets me do that but it doesn't work with CSV files:
$ grep -R 'STRING' PATH | awk -F: ' { print $1 FS \n\t $2 } '

What do you use to perform searches in CSV files? Don't tell me to open all
those files in Calc! :o)

Thanks,
Ale.

[l10n-dev] [Fwd: [qa-dev] Testing with TCM]

2006-03-06 Thread Rafaella Braconi

Hi all,

by talking with Andre Schnabel and Pavel Janik during their recent
visits (at different times) in Hamburg, I was told that TCM seems to be
considered a good tool for testing if only some features were
implemented

Some time ago, Andre Schnabel has created a wiki page to collect *TCM
wishes* (http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/TCM_wishes).

In the meantime, I've also investigated a bit on TCM, and found out the
the TCM version currently used for testing OpenSolaris contains some
additional and interesting features that we may like for testing OOo.

It would be great if you could have a look at this TCM version and let
me know if this version better meets our testing purposes.

The TCM is for OpenSolaris, this is why you'll find some test cases for
OpenSolaris, Nevada, etc. So please don't be irritated by the other
product names. You'll see that there is also OpenOffice in there because
it is tested within the OpenSolaris testing as well. In fact, we may
even consider to transfer completely our test cases there

Here is the link and a guest account to access the tool.

http://www.sunvirtuallab.com:8001/tcm2/opensource/tcm_index.cgi?tcm_config=osoaction=

Login: guest
Password: 123

You can find several UI pages and features that are different from
current OO.o TCM - especially testing scenarios, test reports, etc.

Please let me know your feedback.

Rafaella
