For if it was not clear: Dutch translation is also updated back to 100% Helpcontent2/shared/02.po was fully repaired BUT MUST BE INTEGRATED Please make sure it makes it to the new build, otherwise there will be a great regression in the Help since it contains a lot of descriptions of functions in OOo On Mon, 27 Sep 2010 10:13:29 +0200 Rafaella Braconi wrote: Dear All, this is to remind you that the very last deadline to provide fixes and latest translations is approaching. Re: [l10n-dev] On translating product names (Was: About string change in latest trasnsation drop: @MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@)
Hi Goran, I have forwarded your objection and I hope to get an response fast. When we have such generic product names, users not fluent in English would not have a clue what this extension is doing. At the same time users fluent in English would instantly understand that this is something about to make presentations smaller. This is not fair to our users as it does not transfer associations present in the English language to the localized software. I see this practice against the goals of the localization project. For the reference, other software vendors do translate such generic names (like Notepad, Wordpad, Paint, Control panel...) keeping users happy. Re: [l10n-dev] About string change in latest trasnsation drop: @MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@
Hi all, I have to correct myself. There is no more vendorname at all. The MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME variable will be replaced during build time by "Presentation Minimizer". If it is actually "Oracle Presentation Minimizer", is this string it will resolve to " Presentation Minimizer" e.g "Oracle Presentation Minimizer". Thus the vendorname can change and the product name will stay in English! provided for translation somewhere else or will remain in English?
