Yes, Jordi, you have the 30th, too.

Thanks,

I've been doing major corrections for Catalan translation and I'll
upload the final fines in Pootle on the 30th during the day, so I want
to make sure that I've got 30th (Thursday) too to make changes...

They are untranslated, as are many more things in the Hel.

The strings are either found in Pootle, as translated, but left
untranslated in the Help (for example: "To show or hide the comment
indicator, choose Tools - Options - OOo-dev Calc - View and mark or
unmark the Comment indicator check box."), or do not show up in Pootle
at all ("To access this command...").

The build is m9, with a Polish langpack.

For if it was not clear: Dutch translation is also updated back to 100%

Helpcontent2/shared/02.po was fully repaired BUT MUST BE INTEGRATED
Please make sure it makes it to the new build, otherwise there will be a
great regression in the Help

since it contains a lot of descriptions of functions in OOo

Dear All,

this is to remind you that the very last deadline to provide fixes and

Please make sure to provide SDF files via issue as usual by September 30th.
Pootle users: please make sure to update the Pootle content (new and
fuzzy strings) by September 30th.

There are languages that do require to transcribe all foreign names
because a language is not using a Latin script, it is using right to
left writing, or simply because a language grammar says to do so.

When we have such generic product names, users not fluent in English
would not have a clue what this extension is doing.

At the same time users fluent in English would instantly understand that
this is something about to make presentations smaller.

This is not fair to our users as it does not transfer associations
present in the English language to the localized software. I see this
practice against the goals of the localization project.

For the reference, other software vendors do translate such generic
names (like Notepad, Wordpad, Paint, Control panel...) keeping users
happy.

Kind regards,
Goran Rakic

2010-09-29 Thread Ivo Hinkelmann

Hi all,

I have to correct myself. There is no more vendorname at all. The
MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME variable will be replaced during build
time by "Presentation Minimizer".

COMPONENT_XCU_REPLACEMENT=s/@MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@/Presentation
Minimizer/g

Hi
I see the latest translation drop basically was changing file:
\sdext\source\minimizer\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\extension.po

Particularly, %EXTENSIONNAME and "Oracle Presentation Minimizer" was
changed into:
@MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@

In previous version of the file, there was the following string:

#:
SunPresentationMinimizer.xcu#.SunPresentationMinimizer.Strings.STR_SUN_OPTIMIZATION_WIZARD2.value.text

msgctxt
"SunPresentationMinimizer.xcu#.SunPresentationMinimizer.Strings.STR_SUN_OPTIMIZATION_WIZARD2.value.text"

msgid "Oracle Presentation Minimizer"
msgstr "Minimitzador de presentacions d'Oracle"

a) it is a product name and should stay in English
b) there should not be a hardcoded Oracle within the string

which was now changed into:

#:
SunPresentationMinimizer.xcu#.SunPresentationMinimizer.Strings.STR_SUN_OPTIMIZATION_WIZARD2.value.text

msgid "@MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@"
msgstr "@MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@"

Question is: What will @MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@ resolve to?
If it is actually "Oracle Presentation Minimizer", is this string

it will resolve to " Presentation Minimizer" e.g "Oracle
Presentation Minimizer". Thus the vendorname can change and the product
name will stay in English!

provided for translation somewhere else or will remain in English?
We need to know because it affects the article to be used whenever
@MINIMIZEREXTENSIONPRODUCTNAME@ appears
