I don't have a strong opinion either way about retaining download links. In 
general I think keeping them around suggests that we're still willing to 
support fixes on those branches, even if we document to the contrary. That 
said, it's easy enough to close tickets against old versions by pointing out 
the documentation.

If there is sufficient interest in patching older releases, there'd
need to be an effort to backport other things.

The files will always be available on
https://archive.apache.org/dist/logging/log4j/ including all our
historical releases. I'm not so sure we need to keep the EOL'd
artifacts on downloads.apache.org anymore.

We should at least retain the information of which older version of Log4j maps 
to which older version of Java. 

I thought it would be nice to keep the links but don’t feel super strongly 
about it.
