Re: [Marketing] Release date for V2?

2005-06-01 Thread Craig Adams
Hi Jean,

I don't think so. According to the releases list, a review of
outstanding issues etc is scheduled to be completed on 20 June.

I think that we will be looking to enter a Release Candidate phase
rather soon after depending on the results of the review.

Regards

Craig A.

[Marketing] Release date for V2?

2005-06-01 Thread Jean Hollis Weber

Are we still on track for release of V2 sometime this month (June)?

I looked on the codeline page
(http://development.openoffice.org/releases/OpenOffice_org_2_x.html) which
still says V2 in June, but I was wondering if anyone knew something more
specific or up-to-date. Trying to work out when I need to go into full
panic mode about getting user guides done. :-)

Thanks.

Thanks for this email. This is very good news. Microsoft must just be

Hi,

Google are running a 'summer of code' program to introduce students to
open source software development. A student will receive $4,500 for
completing an open source project. There are several participating
organisations including the gnome, apache, python and perl foundations
and ubuntu linux.

The web site, at the following link, includes details of the program and
how to become a mentoring organisation:

I think this could be a good opportunity for OOo to join in and get some
new developers during the summer, working on items on the to do list for
example.

Thanks

What I've seen you can get bulks of 2500 pins between .50 and .70 USD
per pin if that helps anyone.

Hello Florian:

Hmm... looks like I could spread some OOo then! Well, I am currently
in school (I get out next week) and over the summer, and I do small
computer jobs such as repairs. Currently where I live, there seems to
be a lot of computer competition. We've just had a small computer
business move in and a lot of the teens like me also do some small
work!

I would possibly take a small order of 100 pins. I'll pay anything
under $100USD if that's possible. If not, when you get a quote, tell
me the approx. amount per pin and I can give you an exact amount.

Thanks!

Hello Florian:

I think the pins would be a great idea. Once it gets the go ahead,
please let me know. Also, would you happen to know the approx. cost in
USD for a pin?

I also like the t-shirt idea too. Except, for general marketing, could
just get t-shirts with the OOo and no slogan so it isn't all "language
based".

Thanks!

Hello Florian,

I'm based in Paris, France, but that doesn't really matter actually. I'm
going to forward your mail to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] and see if NL project
leads are responding. Then, together with the Marketing Project, we
would pass an order for the pins.

Best,

Hello Florian,

thank your for this initiative. Well, I can't speak for everybody here,
but surely it would be interesting to get these pins. The only question
now is, how do we organize ourselves in order to buy them in bulk?

Best,

Charles.

[Marketing] Production of pins for OpenOffice.org

2005-06-01 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello fellow colleagues,

my name is Florian Effenberger and I'm the marketing contact for the
German language OpenOffice.org project (http://de.openoffice.org). We
currently evaluate and design marketing material for exhibitions and as
"fan art", i.e. for our booth personnel as well as for interested users.
Some material, like the t-shirts with a German slogan, is
language-dependend, some isn't.

One of the marketing goodies we currently evaluate are pins you can wear
on your shirt. They will only contain the OpenOffice.org logo, so they
would be usable for all subprojects. As it is much cheaper to produce
them in a huge amount than to produce only a few for our next
exhibitions, I would like to ask you if you are interested in having
(read: buying) such pins for your project or if they are already
available. If you are, we could organize a mass-ordering that leads to
cheap prices and distribute them among the projects. We specially think
of the OOoCon in September where these pins could get really useful and
handy. ;-)

I'm only subscribed to the digest version of this list, so please bear
with me and, if possible, reply with my e-mail address in the Cc.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Greetings from Germany
Florian
