[Marketing] Investing In Research & Development

2006-01-09 Thread DC Parris
Greetings!

I am responding to an article that claims Microsoft invests $50b/year in
R&D - as if the libre software community doesn't invest in R&D. I believe
it does. Can the OOo team help me quantify what gets invested in R&D? I
am also contacting some other major projects, but would like to get some
input from the folks at OOo.

Don

Re: [Marketing] [Fwd: OOoCon 2006 - Call for Location - Draft in Wiki]

2006-01-09 Thread Benjamin Horst
I wrote to that list (but I'm not subscribed to it) to suggest Boston, as a
vote of confidence for the Massachusetts ODF decision! I'm not in Boston, but I
imagine we must have a number of supporters and volunteers there, right? (Also,
having it in the USA might help with adoption rates here, as Europe is
sometimes painted by business leaders or politicians as being "different" in a
negative way.)

Then I became very busy and couldn't check for responses to my message, or even
to see if it made it through...

Does anybody have comments? I think I haven't seen any, yet.

Thanks,

Hi all,

As you most likely know, a close to final draft of the call for location
for OOoCon 2006 is available in our Wiki:

  http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoCon_2006_Call_for_Location

I haven't seen a lot feedback yet. Therefore, I wanted to ask one more
time for comments and edits.

What should be the deadline? What needs to be changed, added or removed
from the draft? Who can help with getting submitted proposals online for
the voting? What mechanisms do we want to distribute/publish the call
for location?

I will also forward this message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Cheers,
Erwin
