 I'm looking for an easy-to-print two-page one-sheet flyer/datasheet
that promotes both the application and the project/community, i.e.
attracting users and contributors. The document could be used at
 various open source events.

What is wrong with the template? Do you wnat someone to populate it for
you? Not sure what is the problem.

I opened an issue

Progress stalled a little right now. Swamped at work. But I'll have time

I'm aware of the 4-page flyer at

http://marketing.openoffice.org/2.0/marketingmaterials.html

However, even though the flyer is very nice, it does not talk
enough about the project and how someone can join the community
and start contributing. Do we have something like that?

That is very much a product flyer. It was designed so that you can reduce
it to two pages by just printing pages one and four, but it doesn't try to
sell the community as well.

I've got the graphical bits pretty much done and I've created some toon characters to represent the various types of members of the project.

What I need now is benefits for the individuals. I've started a list below
feel free to add and subtract.

Developers:
The opportunity to play with the code of largest OpenSource project.

The Opportunity to learn from a large of very experienced developers

The opportunity of having your code becoming part of a huge project

Writers:
The opportunity for Tech Writers of all different levels to work with highly skilled Tech Writers and Editors.

The opportunity to become part of the team of Authors on one of the largest
collaborative writing projects anywhere.

To have your name listed in the credits for the OOo manuals

Marketers:
Being part of a worldwide team taking on the acknowledged Giant of the Industry. Anyone that thrives on a challenge no matter how seemingly insurmountable the odds will love this challenge.

Artists:
To be able to contribute art to Worldwide marketing campaigns. For books and manuals and information. This is corporate Art across the board. The advantage is that you only have to work on that which interests you.

Users:
You've started using the Software and you're loving it: Come and be part of

OK I think that's about enough to go on with. I figure two or three things for
each group.
