Gartner are just pointing out what is always true - there are costs involved and decisions to be made when migrating from one system to another. And they are not quoted as using the word 'high'. Beyond the headline there are lots of positives in the report to pick up on. I'm particularly intrigued with the report of a VBA macro conversion tool. Is it open source? It could be quite a winner. If it does a good job it will remove one of the main MSO to OOo conversion barriers. Tony Pursell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is it just me, or does the only thing the article really say is "Don't use Linux if you have a Windows app you rely on"? They don't provide any numbers that I can tell related to what a "high" migration cost is. Further, right at the end the Gartner spokesperson indicates "it is too early to determine its level of compatibility and fidelity with enterprise Excel applications and complex Word documents." If it is too early to tell, then how does one arrive at a conclusion? Hmm. Hasn't that 'high barrier' turned out time and a gain to be almost purely psychological when it comes to case studies rather than speculation by sponsored 'reports' ? e.g. http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/applications/0,39020384,39260274,00.htm -Lars Lars Noodén ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Patents are wrong for software but right for inventions.
