Hi,

Given the current downturn in TV and press advertising in the UK (and
probably most of the rest of the world), is it possible to raise enough
money to fund a small ad campaign for OO.org?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/3437837/TV-advertising-now-cheapest-on-record.html:

"Researchers calculated that the cost of 30 seconds of television
advertising now costs just £4.81 per thousand adults." - and that was last
November. Alternatives include cinema and press, which are possible.

Am I being absurd? Is this possible? Is it impossible to raise, say £10k
for such a project? I'd put in £100 if 100 others did - something like
pledge bank?

Many of the money used for tv commercials is creating the commercial it self.

I have an idea to just use Impress and save it as a Macromedia Flash which is just filmed from a computer visiting the website where the commercial is. First in a small browser window which is later enhanced to most of the screen showing the zooming of a Flash presentation to the actual window size

This is created only using
the presentation application
OpenOffice.org Impress
- exported as a Flash file
- uploaded at a webpage
- which is filmed by a camera
OpenOffice.org is a full office suite
with the textwriter
spreadsheet
drawingtool
and database

Get it for free at OpenOffice.org
OpenOffice.org (zoom the windows to almost nothing)

No sound at all which will attract the viewer because they are used to loud commercials so they be concerned that there suddenly is no noise in an advertising block.

Just my idea to do it - cheap.
