This makes sense for things like single character input, echo control and similar terminal settings. I should assume that color output would work without curses, simply using the escape sequences as mentioned. So I'd keep javacurses and charva as fallback, or use them if available without depending on them. Greetings, Martin P.S.: I just recently subscribed to the list, and didn't receive the mail I'm responding to, so maybe this answer will break the thread in some views. Re: ANSI color logging in Maven
As long as it's optional (preferable enabled by detecting the capability of the terminal but able to be disabled), it'd be cool. Not really a high priority, but if someone is able to work on it, it'd be great :) - Brett On 08/04/2008, at 8:40 AM, Rahul Thakur wrote: Hello, I have opened an enhancement request for ANSI color logging for Maven here. http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-3507 I believe it would be a neat usability enhancement to Maven and make it much easier to skim through logging output on the console. Not sure about Eric, but Andrew Williams did some work under Plexus sandbox. Rahul Brian E.
