Resolution: Workaround
I have added a {{LegacyDSASigner}} class in the _sshd-contrib_ package that can
be used to replace the JCE signer that is being used by the code by default.
However, since it seems that using SHA-1 with DSA keys above 1024 bits is
discouraged by the security community - including {{OpenSSH}} that has simply
disabled by default the usage of +any+ DSA key, I have not incorporated into
the main code. This means that if someone wants to use what is considered to be
an unsafe method then they should make an explicit choice to do so by changing
the code - thus indicating that they did it on purpose, fully understanding the
consequences.
