Podling Report Reminder - December 2016

2016-12-07 Thread johndament
Dear podling,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache
Incubator PMC. It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to
prepare your quarterly board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 21 December 2016, 10:30 am PDT.
The report for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC
report. The Incubator PMC requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks
before the board meeting, to allow sufficient time for review and
submission (Wed, December 07).

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the Incubator
PMC, and subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the
very latest you should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board
meeting.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

Submitting your Report

--

Your report should contain the following:

*   Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of
the project or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move
towards graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be
aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.

This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:

https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/December2016

Note: This is manually populated. You may need to wait a little before
this page is created from a template.

Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on
the Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are
following the project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms
for the Incubator PMC.

Re: Download binaries from Maven

2016-12-07 Thread Niclas Hedhman
Maven repository normally contains hashes for each file. They are intended
for download integrity check, but you could also keep the hash in your
distro. Additionally, many projects uploads detached PGP signatures of each
file, for you to truly verify its origin if you so desire.

Example; http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/qi4j/core/org.qi4j.core.api/2.1/

Cheers

wiki edit permission

2016-12-07 Thread Emilian Bold
Hello,

I could not edit https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/December2016 because my
user, EmilianBold is not allowed.

Could somebody grant me this permission?

Also, shouldn't this wiki work with the Apache ID? I now have 3 accounts:
the Apache ID, the cwiki user and the wiki user.

Actually I am not allowed to edit that page. The apache ID didn't work so I
created yet another login: EmilianBold

Hi Emilian,

Thanks for drafting the first report!
Can you maybe enter this on the report wiki page [1]?
Note: the deadline for providing the report (by the podling) is *today*.

Thanks, Ate

NetBeans

NetBeans is a development environment, tooling platform and application
framework.

NetBeans has been incubating since 2016-10-01.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

  1. Licensing, i.e., identifying and solving GPL-related code.
  2. Coming up with a process of contributing code that makes sense to everyone.
  3. Working on roadmaps, features, and plans together as a community.

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

   None.

How has the community developed since the last report?

Discussed CCLA/SGA on the dev mailing list.

Discussed existing mailing lists migration plan to Apache:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Mailing+lists+migration

How has the project developed since the last report?

CCLA and SGA still in the process of being approved and signed by
Oracle, which will also apply the copyright headers as instructed on
the dev mailing list.

   Started initial code cleanup analysis
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Overview%3A+NetBeans+Structure
Oracle has already agreed to relicense the Graal.js parser under
the Apache license.
Resolved in LEGAL-279 the nb-javac dependency license.

Almost finished new static website for Apache NetBeans.

Experimented Mercurial to Git repository migration with a focus on
repository size. Solution found, size not an issue anymore.

Date of last release:

  No releases yet.

When were the last committers or PMC members elected?

No one has been elected so far.

Wording, again, of the code donation

2016-12-07 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
Hi all,

The hold up in terms of the code donation continues to be a 'simple' case
of the wording, still.

We -- i.e., both on Oracle and Apache sides -- want to be very clear about
what exactly, of the large repo and various bits and pieces -- we're
donating. There are clearly parts we do not want to donate, etc, e.g., the
Java compiler fork, for example.

Below is the current wording, i.e., we're making sure we're not
accidentally donating Java documentation that may be at netbeans.org (but
as far as I'm aware no such documentation exists there, though we're just
making sure etc):

1. "org.netbeans" and "org.openide" package hierarchy source code within
the "org.netbeans" and "org.openide" namespaces located at the "
hg.netbeans.org" repository, excluding hg.netbeans.org/main/nb-javac and
hg.netbeans.org/apitest

2. The following NetBeans documentation at netbeans.org:
- the tutorials
- the feature pages
- articles and interviews

Of course, if something is accidentally donated it can be undonated though
we don't want to have things even in the history of an Apache Git repo that
shouldn't be there. I know all this may seem fussy and unnecessary, even,
however we are erring on the side of caution.

Can others look at 1. and 2. above and check if anything is missing from
there that we would want to have?

Thanks,

Geertjan
