Hi Zoran,

The Java EE module should contain support for recognizing JSON files. Hope
this helps.

Thanks

recognize JSON files and apply JSON formatting. What modules I need to

New committer and PPMC member: John McDonnell

2018-03-03 Thread Emilian Bold
The Podling Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache NetBeans has invited
John McDonnell to become a committer and PPMC member and we are pleased to
announce that he has accepted.

Being a committer enables easier contribution to the project since there is no
need to go via the patch submission process. This should enable better
productivity.

Being a PPMC member enables assistance with the management and to guide the
direction of the project.

We are really glad to have John here!

Re: launcher for windows and building c file

2018-03-03 Thread Emilian Bold
> unless we have a good reason not to use it, I think it makes sense to use it.

Well, the existing launchers work and somebody inside Oracle was capable of
building them at some point so we should be able to do it too with some effort.

Migrating to another launcher might be more work to make sure everything we
expect still works, or move stuff from the native to the Java side, etc.

It just seems much less work short-term to just compile this binary.

Of course, long-term using the 'standard' launchers from JDK sounds better but
we might get the surprise of those launchers being abandoned too rather soon ;-)

Re: NetBeans translation to other languages

2018-03-03 Thread Emilian Bold
At the most basic level, you could just create GitHub Pull Requests for the
resource (.properties files and images). See
http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/org-openide-modules/org/openide/modules/doc-files/i18n-branding.html

Of course, this is a bit more complex as you have to clone the repo and find
the .properties files...
