Look in the Options window, in the Editor | Hints tab, look for the
'Convert switch to rule switch' item and uncheck it.

jdk12 question - NB 11.0

2019-04-01 Thread Mike Billman
Just a quick question about jdk12...I am running my project as a gradle project
and was wondering how to get netbeans to suppress the error related to the new
switch statements.

Thanks!

Status of Apache NetBeans 11.0

2019-04-01 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
Hi all,

According to our roadmap[1], we're releasing Apache NetBeans 11.0 in
support of JDK 12, the integration of the 'enterprise' cluster, and the
introduction of out-of-the-box Gradle support in March.

However, the voting process took a bit longer than anticipated and more
discussion was needed than had been planned. Nevertheless, the vote has
succeeded[2].

During this week, the final bits will be put together and uploaded and
announced. We're also working on documentation and there'll be a range of
small YouTube clips.

As those of you who have been following the process will be aware, the
process has been complex and it has been a challenge to meet a variety of
expectations simultaneously. We appreciate your patience -- and we are very
proud in particular of having worked together to integrate the 'enterprise'
cluster, which continues the process of landing NetBeans solidly within
Apache. Take a look at our nice neat GitHub repo[3], we are very proud of
it.

A very special and warm word of congratulation to our tireless release
manager Laszlo Kishalmi who, amazingly, not only pushed the release along,
but also provided out-of-the-box integration with Gradle, which is simply
awesome.

The next big step will be to discuss becoming a top level project, which we
have put off a bit while the Apache NetBeans 11.0 release process was
ongoing. We have done all the many bits and pieces already to comply with
becoming a top level project, we will formalize this via a discussion
thread here, with the official resolution, and we'll then take it to the
IPMC for discussion and voting.

Thanks again, all!
