Re: Apache NetBeans events
Not strictly all brand questions so consider this more of an answer from an experienced ASF Member. Yes you can charge. Yes you can have sponsors. Generally, you need to keep in mind that you need to avoid undermining the ASF-wide sponsor system. Generally, you can mention the sponsor on the page for the event but not on your home page. Depending on how much the sponsorship is for, you may want to contact fundraising@ as there is (if the amount is around $6k) the possibility of treating it as a directed ASF sponsorship. fundraising@ can provide details on that. Yes, you can mention and link to the sponsors on the event page. I strongly recommend that those are no-follow links. Tomcat did this: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/TOMCAT/TomcatCon+London+2017 Absolutely not necessary, but nicely aligned with the ASF's values of transparency and openness. If you are handling funds, be careful to avoid any tax issues. HTH, Mark On 12/03/18 12:17, Antonio wrote: > Hi all, > > 1. Re: Apache NetBeans events
I think it is worth mentioning the sponsors also tend to be companies we ‘vet’ as appropriate to be sponsors and they tend to be companies who are keen to help out (or have our supporters in positions of influence) rather than looking for aggressive marketing opportunities. IDRsolutions always sponsors NetBeans UK because I am involved in the event (and I control the Company finances) - I am sure other events are similar. Hi Apache Brand Team, A follow up question: "I think we should also clarify if we are allowed to charge or have sponsorship for the events. Re: Apache NetBeans events
The other aspect is, now that we have approval for these events from @trademark, Bertrand has suggested that we have a LAZY VOTE (i.e., if no one objects within 72 hours, it's a go) for each individual separate event here on @dev, with PPMC members having a binding vote. That would ratify each individual event and would mean it has the official backing of the Apache NetBeans community -- and some random person out there can then not set up some random NetBeans events, i.e., official backing of individual events by the community is a win for everyone. Also, though, we need to agree what a NetBeans event actually consists of, i.e., that's why I added the three items below, defining the minimum requirements of an Apache NetBeans Day: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/NetBeans+Events Do we need to vote on that as well? Are there additions to this list/definition?
