Yes, it was a suggestion. And as you mention, tasks are dependent on
each other. That's why I wanted to go further.

If I may suggest instead, we need to perhaps go through the tasks
themselves and see what needs to be accomplished. To that end, I would
focus on the deliverables themselves in the beginning such as:

- Identify the major milestones or objectives
- Discuss and decide upon the best methodology for implementation of the
above objectives
- Decide on a collaboration platform (in addition to what exists) if any.
- Dive into code directly and just hand off tasks to volunteers who find
them interesting / appealing from the team

Once we get the project into momentum and you have enough interested and
dedicated people then you can put some structure and specialization
into it.

Right !

Now to that end, I would suggest the following major milestones as
necessary

- Integration of bootstrap and its dependencies to the framework,
specifically into the widget system

For this point I suggest to work on this way : Create tool to delegate
HTML widget structure (and other structure) into theme framework.
To be clear, I suggest to not integrate bootstrap only but modify the
framework to allow any other HTML/CSS frameworks integration without
modifying the OFBiz framework.
But we'll do it for bootstrap first.

You don't need to modify the framework. The screen widgets allow you to
substitute alternate macros for the rendering engine. See widget.properties.

Re: Theme bootstrap

2014-10-22 Thread pierre

Hi all,

One thing which seems to me important:
It would be great to add a milestone of screens customisation. Even if
screens are thought well, for very numerous customer projects, it is
often necessary to modify screens to adapt them.

The idea is to make customizable screens without having to modify the
source code.

I see at least 3 levels of configuration:
  - the menu: mask / show items
  - the general structure of page : Be able to add or mask a
"portlet" or " widget "

  - the structure of a form : be able to mask / to show fields.

All this should be done by a configuration in basis.

There is a technique of portlets already existing into OFBiz, I find
that it may be a good starting point.

Do you think it could be added as a milestone?

Doc|https://docs.google.com/document/preview?hgd=1&id=1woFw1WgUn7-xyYMMOTnWjYxqWQ-fceXIzgefjk3dEkw].
But Confluence wiki should be preferred IMO. There is history and all what's
needed to easily compare versions, etc. Eric you would just need to ask to be a
contributor

Also Eric, I don't think we need your complete signature in all comments ;)
thanks!

what is "user ML"?

and I notice my warning message points to "-source 1.6"; but yours points to
"-source 1.7";

My: [javac17] warning: [options] bootstrap class path not set in conjunction
with -source 1.6

Yours: [javac17] warning: [options] bootstrap class path not set in

If we're compiling the same files with the same compiler, why is the warning

I can try to finish Adam's work but I would appreciate some examples of client
code that uses the current JSON class and specifically some of the converters
(in JSONConverters); the existing unit tests don't help me much. Adrian, if you
could share some code I would really appreciate it.

Adrian Crum commented on OFBIZ-5790:

#1 looks like an ugly kludge to me, but I don't have an alternative approach.
It would be nice if you could specify the content type in the request map
instead of in the view map - then the controller could select the correct
representation handler for the response.

#3 - I have used the JSON converters in client projects.

My recommendation would be to finish the work Adam started (#3) and have
various parts of the framework convert things to/from JSON using the converter
framework, then switch the converter framework over to a JSON library. I don't
think we need any additional JSON code.

Re: access to component

2014-10-22 Thread Pierre Smits
The only thing I can say is that having the base permissions in the
ofbiz-component.xml doesn't seem to be enough.
Loading seed security data in SecurityPermissionSeedData.xml also
seems a necessity. Especially the association between the SUPER group (to
which the system account belongs to) and the permissionId OFBTOOLS via the
groupPermission of your app seems to be required.

Pierre Smits

This is not a bug. For now, only Java 1.7 is guaranteed to work with these
releases. At some point in the future there will be an effort to have next
releases to work also with Java 1.8 but it's not currently planned.

After some hesitations, I eventually decided to not close. Because this issue
can be used as a reminder to work on having OFBiz trunk running with Java 1.8,
which is already 1 year old.

[jira] [Commented] (OFBIZ-5790) Json string parameters as a service input are not recognized by OFBiz ServiceEventHandler.

2014-10-22 Thread Jacopo Cappellato (JIRA)

[
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-5790?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14180187#comment-14180187

Jacopo Cappellato commented on OFBIZ-5790:
--

I agree with [~adri...@hlmksw.com] about the fact that we can use this task
(and this feature/requirement) to start cleaning and refactoring the existing
home-grown JSON code.
In order to achieve this goal, I started reviewing the existing code and some
of the open Jira tickets that could be useful.
Here are my initial findings:
# the main mechanism we have to return the *result* of a service call in JSON
is the CommonEvents.jsonResponseFromRequestAttributes(...) method that is
associated to {code}

{code}
and can be used with a request like:{code}

{code}
the jsonResponseFromRequestAttributes(...) method generates the JSON response
using the net.sf.json package i.e. the JSON-lib product
(http://json-lib.sourceforge.net); the latest release of this product is
2010-12-14
# an additional dependency on JSON-lib is represented by the
toJsonObjectList(...) methods that are defined in the following classes:
EbayStoreOptions, HumanResEvents, CategoryServices, ImageManagementServices,
ProductStoreEvents; I didn't review these methods closely but we should
probably refactor them to use the same method defined in a central place (base
component)
# then we have the code (parser) in org.ofbiz.base.json that depends on JavaCC;
the only dependency we have on org.ofbiz.base.json is from JSONConverters that
implements a ConverterLoader for the conversion from the
org.ofbiz.base.json.JSON class to List, Map, Set, Short, Byte, Integer, Long,
Boolean, Float, Double; I don't think this code is used at all, nor I know how
to use it

Any hint about #3? how to use it and if it is used?
After this initial review, a draft plan could be (pending feedback from others):
# create a new JSON util class under org.ofbiz.base.json and move there the
implementation of the toJsonObjectList(...) and of the
jsonResponseFromRequestAttributes(...) methods
# implement there also the method proposed in this patch
# convert the code in the new util class from JSON-lib to Jackson
# remove the JSON parser in org.ofbiz.base.json and the JSONConverters;
# remove the JSON-lib jar

Re: access to component

2014-10-22 Thread gil portenseigne

Hi and Welcome !

I just do the same on my local,

Tried to connect to :

https://localhost:8443/mytest/control/main

It's working fine for me.

I did it really out of the box.

You seems to have a login screen, seems yet good, that means your
component is well created.

Did you have any error message ?

My generated webapp declaration :

Just check you got the same...

The component seems to be created well with this steps,

Even setting

does not change the unsuccessful login-attempt.

Do I need to provide any additional steps to
get access to the component?

Having some performance benchmarks is a good thing. And if the benchmark

That could be indeed a long term goal. For now I just want to know if the

Re: JMeter examples

2014-10-22 Thread Jacques Le Roux

Anil,

This is great, though I'd prefer to rely on the official OFBiz wiki than a 3rd
party blog.

Now my question was more about putting some simple JMeter tests in the OFBiz
svn repo.

Do we want that? If yes, which folders structure should we use? For instance we could group *.jmx files all together in a place, but I believe we
would prefer to follow the way it's done for JUnit (localised by high level features under a component).

You see, before elaborating more, I want to know if people are interested by the basic idea. Most of us are savy developers and don't need to pass
much time on reading blog posts, so having some raw examples with explanations in the svn repo could be a perfect fit. Of course we could put links to
more elaborated explanations for those who need them, this could be the place for new comers to start.

Of course the idea behind it is to begin to tackle the performance issues we could (will surely) detect in current OOTB code and improve OFBiz for all
our users. I know it's not an easy task, but we have years for that...

The problem is indeed where to post the issues. There is no solution
available to do patches to pages in the website and improvement comments in
the restricted spaces are all over the place.

Long ago, the community decided to go with comments. I don't see a need to
change that. Not all comments in Confluence are important or even relevant.

And regarding the latter
aspect these comments can stay visible for quite some time due to busy
schedules (and other interests) of those capable to implement the changes.
Having those comments there for a longer time is not good regarding
branding and adoption.

If you are really interested/concerned simply add comments where you find
relevant and I will do a complete review.

Having a JIRA setup for the website and restricted spaces will provide the
one place and will create insights about what is still open, what is fixed
and and when. Plus it helps identifying those committers that could become
committers.

If there are important things to tackle in Confluence which are neglected then
of course the way is to create a Jira task type issue.
I will add a Confluence component option for this (in Jira only of course!).

Jacques

All in all not a bad suggestion and improvement.

Pierre, do you have something specific in mind about overlooked comments,
I mean a list, etc.?

Hi all,

Currently we only register issues related to the OFBiz code. But we also
see a lot of comments in wiki pages regarding corrections. These comments
can exists quite a long time and it seems that these are frequently
overlooked.

Should we not also have a setup in JIRA regarding the web and wiki pages?

This helps us to stay aware of bugs and improvements thereof, and help us
to track contributors and patches. Having JIRA issues for this seems to
be
done also in a number of other Apache projects.

Jacques Le Roux commented on OFBIZ-5771:

Jacopo,

Actually it was a clean configuration (using additivity for OFBiz the
error.log) but for Freemarker. I used it for some weeks, but did not tackle
Freemarker well I must say. If we drop external then all is easier and I like
what's in r1633550 :)

I will backport and change the title (feel free to change it again if needed)

Thanks for you effort!

Jacques,

the patch you are proposing is not a clean configuration of log4j and it seems
to me a work in progress (also based on your comments to this ticket).
I was worried that the vote that you were going to start for the inclusion of
this patch could generate another long discussion so I went ahead and
implemented a new configuration (see commit 1633550) that should implement all
the items in your wish list; if you and the others will like it, feel free to
backport to the 13.07 branch.
I will leave this ticket assigned to you but please, if you will resolve it by
setting the "Fix Version/s" field, change the title to make it more
professional since it will go in the release notes.
