OK, a slight misunderstanding. As far as I'm concerned, if the links are
still working, regardless of content, I see no reason to delete them.

They may eventually catch up to 4.0.

Did you consider contacting them to find out the current situation?

Obviously there is no point contacting "8daysaweek", because their home
page makes it clear.

"Tutorials for OpenOffice" is now being worked on, but there is a lot of
material to be updated, so don't expect to see immediate changes. This
site also handles a number of support questions every day.

I am awaiting a reply from "OpenOfficeSchool".

It is a shame that the ecosystem that surrounded the original
OpenOffice.org project appears to be fading away. I have done some
fairly thorough checking and there does not seem to be any new English
sites coming on-line.

thx a bunch, it does not seem to have much difference to the one I found,
but its now active.

The root cause of this will, I hope, be discussed in other forums. The
changes was done, for whatever reason, in a manner that nearly caused us to
loose important artwork, that is not acceptable.

Thx for kind words.

I have a big bag of trix !! the problem was that not only was the main logo
overwritten, but deep down in styles a link was broken and overwritten with
a new logo. Funny enough this change was only done for the "en" forum,
maybe the other forums does not matter :-)

All forums should have a header logo from late 2011, and the front logo is
about the same date, so if there have been changes after that they are
lost, this is the best I can do.

User SLV-es from ES forums proposed a new logo

http://forum.openoffice.org/es/forum/download/file.php?id=3924&mode=view

On his own words, it needs some work but IMO it shows an interesting tweak,
maintaining both, colours and fonts from original logo but with a variant
that suggest "help" (the main forum purpose).

I suggested the author to attach his proposal to the issue.

Thanks for mentioning this. Cleanup is definitely in order! When we brought
the site up 2 years ago, the links were checked, but not recently.

Of course it is not your fault! You are doing an impressive work, and
thanks to you the forums are a lot better now! It's just that this logo
thing released a lot of heat these days...

Maybe Imacat have a version of the former logo? If I remember right, she
did some changes on the transparency of the logo to fix some rendering
problems, so maybe she have a copy.

No one has cared to make make backup of the forum www over the last couple
of years, and the admin that uploaded the new logo did not care to rename
the existing logo (I actually thought it was renamed).

So "reverted" might not be the correct english word. I used the best and
old logo image I could. But if someone has the original old one, it can be
uploaded.

Its not really my fault, that no one cared about backup earlier, I have
spent a big part of the weekend to remedy that situation.

Reverted the changes??? The forum now has the orb that is too light with gulls that can barely

I can, unfortunately, in the dev-version 3.5 (AOO350m1(Build:9611) - Rev.
1458937) does not reproduce. So there the error occurs (in Windows XP).

[WWW]Outdated links on support page?

2013-08-18 Thread Ricardo Berlasso
On the EN support page(1) there are links to "Tutorials for OpenOffice",
"OpenOfficeSchool" and "8daysaweek".

AFAIK, the first two resources are not being maintained since several years
while 8daysaweek site have a big picture on the main page telling that the
site is now closed(2).

(1) http://www.openoffice.org/support/index.html
(2) http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/

It seems a cleaning is needed. What do you think? Somebody knows about
other sites with more updated content on English (I know a couple on
Spanish)?

Ricardo

Forum, last call, less than 24 hours to operation \"rejuvenate\".

2013-08-18 Thread janI
hi.

Forum-vm is now updated (ubuntu etc. not phpBB), big thanks to arist for
updating the mysql database.

The logo was changed (also on wiki), I have reverted the changea, and it
will remain reverted until we
have consensus on dev@ and forum.

Forum is online, and the remaining work will be done with forum online
(potentiall with short dropouts < 1minute).

We will monitor performance the next couple of days and fine tune in
particular the mysql buffers.

phpBB will be updated at a later date after a discussion with the
forum-admins.

please report if something is broken, that worked earlier.

thanks for your patience.

Subject: Please confirm the following error in AOO 4.0

Hello,

Can anyone confirm the following error in AOO 4.0?

If you have installed an extension that contains a toolbar or
an entry in the Help menu, and in the extension-manager click
(for this extension) the "Disable" button and then "Enable",
then, after opening a new window, her toolbar and the entry
in the Help menu will not be visible.

Only when you install the extension again, the toolbar and
the entry in the Help menu is visible again.

The error described above is now:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123052

Greetings,
Jörg
