review granted: [Bug 123690] CRASH when decreasing color picker vertical size too much : [Attachment 82282] patch to solve the crash

Bug 123690: CRASH when decreasing color picker vertical size too much
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123690

Attachment 82282: patch to solve the crash
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=82282action=edit

--- Additional Comments from Oliver-Rainer Wittmann o...@apache.org
The crash is triggered by method createBlendFrame(..) by calling
BitmapWriteAccess::SetPixel(..) with inappropriate value for y.
Due to the given comments regarding the values of x and y I identified the
root cause: in case that nH == 1 given statement y == nH - 1 is not hold.

@Armin: As you are the author of method
BitmapEx createBlendFrame( const Size, sal_uInt8, Color, Color, Color, Color )

I asking you for a review of the proposed patch.

ok, I should take off my developer glasses;-)

 Juergen

The same applies to Macs. If you continue to provide 32 bit Linux you
should continue offering 32 bit for Macs.

I think I have already described why that is not easy possible and
requires much more work. We have good reasons to move to a newer MacOS
platform SDK (explained already) if we don't want to risk to run in
problems on newer or future MacOS versions. APIs are already deprecated
by Apple and we have to take this into account.

I also promised that we can give support if anybody is interested to
invest the time in supporting an older SDK than 10.7 and potentially
also a 32 bit version for MacOS.

Our plan is to focus on modern systems only and especially on Mac the
situation is different than on Linux. Newer Mac systems are all running
on 64 bit. It is not the question of 32 or 64 bit on Mac but more which
platform SDK we need as baseline.

To repeat it again AOO 4.1 will require the 10.7 SDK and if somebody is
interested to work on support for 10.6 stand up now.

And for Linux 32 bit binaries are not built automatically and we spent a
lot of time on it. We need an older baseline that is not supported by
infra on the Apache bots, means we can't easy use the build bots for our
releases. Where are the volunteers who take care of this? Where are the
volunteers who convince infra that we need at least 2 VMs (32 and 64
bit) that matches our baseline.
Currently it is not a problem and it is clear that 32 bit Linux is
widely used. But anybody who is requesting here the support should think
about it. I have enough other things to do and this is a community
project, anybody can help to provide the binaries on his own machine
that matches the baseline.

Objet: Draft of document corruption survey

http://survey.openoffice.org/index.php/334187/lang-en

The idea here is to have a systematic way to collect information
related to the hash mark issue that we see reported from some users.
If we can point the users to a survey like this, we can collect all
the relevant information in one place and hopefully detect the
patterns and narrow down the possible causes.

There is more I need to do on the finer details of the survey, to add
some screen shots, fix up the next, make some fields context sensitive
(only ask Windows version for Windows users, for example).

But I'd like to see if there are any top-level things I should change?
Any new additional questions, for example?

Feel free to try it out, enter some data, etc. But don't use it for
real reports yet since I'm planning on tossing out any test data and
starting the survey over again when ready.

Regards,

-Rob

No. AFAIK Apple, the commercial entity that produced and sold and developed
software for PPC has
stopped doing so, EOL policy.

---

The boon of open source software is, that everyone *can* take the source and
compile it for PPC.

Alternatively, other software products using AOO source code like LO can
support such a platform.
From your comments it seems to be the case that a LO port for PPC exists, so
why not suggest that
and use it, if you have extraordinary needs?

Updated a new fix patch.

In the patch, the old rule of disabling shift down / shift right during cut
(whose intention was to avoid cut area and paste area overlapping) was removed.

The new rule is: if the paste area will be beyond sheet range of max row or max
column, the corresponding shift down / shift right will be disabled. And this
rule apply to both copy and cut.

Please help to review. Thanks!

Creating 32-bit Linux packs on 64-bit Linux: is it possible for us?

2014-01-15 Thread Kay Schenk
After the conversations of yesterday regarding (I think) developer time
AND buildbot machines (currently we don't have a CentOS in any variety for
our binary creations):

http://markmail.org/message/qlxcwhqsg5uxutd2

I got to wondering and doing a teeny tiny bit of research concerning
building 32-bit binaries on 64-bit Linux machines thinking maybe ONE 64-box
would suffice for both these needs. It seems it can be done -- in a generic
sense -- but I don't know if any of what I read can be applied to our
situation.

I would love to hear what anyone has to say about this.

Thoughts? Experience?

Hello to the Apache Project Team

2014-01-15 Thread Shari Bradstream
Good evening,

I came across the Apache Open Office software and find it intriguing.
I like what I read so decided to invest a little time each week to work on
project materials in the areas that help is needed.
I am not a computer programmer or coder, however; I am very creative and
able to navigate my way through directions and can think outside the box.
I am a licensed professional counselor and a certified addictions therapist
in South Dakota at a non-profit company I started. I am working with high
risk offenders, vulnerable populations in a culturally diverse office
setting, and best of all using Equine Assisted Learning in all my
individual and group settings.

I look forward to being a part of a creative team invested in providing a
service to others - especially in the computer technology arena.

My best regards,
Shari Bradstream

RE:
Suggested modifications to Open Office Draw

Hello,

The
following suggestions generally have work around solutions, however
performing such is a real pain when these are common actions.

1.
Re
the ruler on the left side, please orientate the numbers
horizontally.
The
vertical numbering blends together and is unreadable.

2.
Re
Snap Lines, Snap Points and Grid
a.
It
is a common error that when positioning lines and shapes that the
Snap Line or Snap Point is accidentally moved slightly.
This
is often not noticed immediately.
Please
provide an option to lock these Snaps into their set position.

b.
It
would also be nice when dragging such Snaps that the X-Y co-ordinates
are displayed during the dragging, and displayed for say 1 second
after the mouse button is released.
It
provides confirmation to the user that the setting was not altered
upon releasing the mouse button.

c.
It
would be very good if the Snaps could be grouped with an object and:

d.
that
upon copying and pasting onto another page that those Snaps are also
retained (the position would be relative to where you placed the
group on the page).

e.
I
do not know if there is already a way to do this, but it would be a
big help if when dragging Snaps that they would snap to the selected
grid.

f.
And
I do not see any way to specify the grid divisions.
Again,
this would be a help.

3.
Please
provide a line circular arc tool that lets you:
a. Specify the origin
(point of rotation)
b. Specify the radius
c. Specify the arc
begin angle
d. Specify the arc end
angle
e. Allows an option to
close the curve at the origin to create a segment

4.
Please
provide a line arc tool that lets you click on a line and convert it
to a circular arc – the point would appear at the centre of the
line and be dragged at a normal to the line
So
instead of Modify – To Curve you would also have Modify – To
Circular Curve

5.
Please
provide an option to allow a line to be specified in two ways, shown
on the one dialog box
a. Origin, length and
angle
b. Begin point and end
point

6.
It
is a real major pain that intersecting lines cannot be selected and
fragmented at their intersecting point(s).
Please
fix this.

7.
Please
make it easy to add onto a line by clicking onto a line, selecting an
end point, then selecting a line tool (line, arc, polygon) and then
just use that line tool to extend the original line.

8.
Lastly,
I know this is not intended to be a 3D Cad program.
But
a few features would help.
a. Have the ability to
group several shapes before rotation.
b. When the 3D view
comes up, have buttons to select the front, top, bottom and side
views (a total of 6 views).
c. This is a big one –
some ability to edit 3D shapes

Thanks
everyone.
Best
regards,
Ian

Introduction-Isaak Nate

2014-01-15 Thread Ike Nate
Hello Apache OpenOffice Team,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Isaak Natenzon and I am from
New York, I found this e-mail through uTest, where I am a SQA Tester. I am
familiar with OpenOffice because I have used it in the past.

I got certified MCSE and CCNA back in 2000. I worked as a network admin for
Fleet Securities/ Quick and Reilly located at 14 Wall Street, New York.
After a period of time I got bored with this field, I found that it was not
exciting and innovative as I imagined and coincidentally was invited to a
business venture in a totally different industry. I was out of the IT field
for a while, however, I tried to stay up to date with technology, and every
opportunity that came up working with technology for family and friends, I
was there to volunteer. Recently I was introduced by a friend to SQA
Testing, watched a few James Bach seminars and I was hooked.

I am interested in getting into the SQA Testing seriously and would like to
contribute to OpenOffice development, and build SQA experience.

P.S. Keep up the good work, and hope I can be of assistance.

Regards,

Isaak Natenzon
