Layout question relating to screen size/open office writer
I used to have a smaller screen, and when I did the OpenOffice writer program would display the pages as centered in the middle of the grey space with the next page directly beneath the previous, sort of lined up in a collumn. Now that I have a larger screen it displays like this instead - not using the centre exactly, either a blank space at the side or two pages side by side. Is it possible to return the layout back to the previous one without changing screen sizes?
New OpenOffice Chair ratification
This is hardly news, but since it has not yet been explicitly reported here... the ASF Board ratified Dennis' election as new OpenOffice Chair during their September meeting, held on 16 September. This was totally expected, but it explains some discrepancies that we could have in future between our memory (and this list's archives) and the ASF records. While Dennis had already been acting as Chair for a few weeks for obvious practical reasons, he now has all the needed privileges, he's listed at http://www.apache.org/foundation/ and, to the purpose of the official ASF records, he has been serving in the role since 16 September 2015. [DISCUSS] Fwd: Re: FOSDEM 2016 - Call for Participation
[replies to: dev@openoffice.apache.org] Hello all -- OpenOffice has been participating in FOSDEM for quite some time. For the upcoming FOSDEM in 2016, the ASF will also be participating. Because of the new ASF "stand" participation, it has been suggested to request a set of tables -- one to accommodate the ASF as a single entity, and additional tables as needed for individual project participation. The discussion thread on this has stared on d...@community.apache.org if you want to take a look at that list. Also, please see the wiki reference below for additional details on what has been suggested. Of course, as in the past, we will lend whatever support we can to volunteers at FOSDEM. Please express your interest so this can be coordinated with the ASF plans for FOSDEM. Thanks. Time will tell what sort of stand we'll get (how big etc), but we should plan ahead and _assume_ we'll get two tables (might get one, might get three, but let's assume two). This will require 3-4 volunteers at most times (not to speak of endless amounts of swag to give away), so I would imagine we'd need at least double that in available people, so as to do it in shifts. Depending on the number of projects that are interested in a presence at FOSDEM, we'll likely do a rotation, so that each project get N hours of fame at the stand. FOSDEM has notified us that they are really limited on space this time around, due to the huge interest in this from FOSS communities, so if we can help them by rotating a bit, that would work out for everyone. Having been to previous FOSDEMs, I can also say with some certainty, that you won't risk getting the "boring time slot", as the stands are pretty much always crowded. Participation at FOSDEM happens in different ways. As for the tables/stands/booths, the understanding in https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/COMDEV/FOSDEM+2016 is that OpenOffice will still have to ask for a booth independently, as we (specifically, Michael and Mechtilde) have always done. If then BOTH the OpenOffice table and the generic ASF table are accepted, then it surely makes sense to ask to be placed next to each other and to share space in the most effective way. But at the moment nothing changes with respect to the usual process. Deadline for applying is: - 9 October (very close) for a devroom (track) - 13 November for stands Regards, Andrea. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Re: Layout question relating to screen size/open office writer
I’m not sure what this discussion is about. It seems to concern the layout of a wide screen. You may try using what I have done in http://howard-cary-morris.host-ed.me/html_doc2.html It is set up to switch to two columns for a wide screen. The first pages on the left, the last pages on the right (not sure I like that, this is an early cut). You can look at all the code and copy it if you wish. Howard

I don't know if you can directly get to the old interface any more so tracking by project might be limited. https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-10481 > > Regards, > Andrea. > -- MzK “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” --Lao Tzu - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
