There is already an (empty) update feed for 4.1.6. AOO 4.1.6 should just
report it is "up to date" (like 4.2.0 does).

2018-11-08 Thread Kazunari Hirano
Hi Peter and all,

+1
The Release Candidate 1 for 4.1.6 has passed my tests.

I am sorry but I am late.

I installed japanese version and en-GB langpack on my Windows 10 machine.

They looks good.

Thanks.

As I wrote in the issue, this could be an issue just with the ASF
network configuration and it may not require a fix at all.

This is also my guess.

Just for the record, I cannot reproduce it now and I have to correct
what I reported last month: while testing 4.1.6-RC1 I've found that I
had a stale cached DNS entry that was generating incorrect requests.

In other words, I've never been able to reproduce the error on my system.

All I can say is that my builds for Windows from trunk do not have this
issue. Other users reported, that earlier versions of AOO get connection
to the update server without error message.

This could be DNS but also some bundled library that adopts stricter
protocol checks on HTTPS.

Due to increasing restrictions, I think the only proper way to test it
would be to put a fake update feed online for the (imaginary) 4.1.6 ->
4.1.7 update and see if the 4.1.6 builds report it correctly. It won't
have any impact on real users, provided we remove the test feed before
4.1.6 is officially released.

  Andrea.

Thanks! I've completed my tests tonight.

The Release Candidate 1 for 4.1.6 has passed my tests.

[X] yes / +1 (binding)

I have tested

Linux Release 64 bit

[X] source / binding

[X] binary

Further details: I've gone through my usual checks, that include:

- downloading and verifying the .bz2, .gz, .ZIP sources (checksums, hashes)

- making sure these match with SVN (I've tested the AOO416 branch, not
the tag, but they should be the same): once again they don't, but this
is due to minor differences annotated in
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127544 and not a blocker

- configured (English+Italian) and built source on Linux-64 (on a CentOS
7 system;
https://wiki.openoffice.org/w/index.php?title=Documentation%2FBuilding_Guide_AOO%2FStep_by_step=244368=244281
updated accordingly)

- Installed RPM packages and verified that the build works (tested with
Writer and Calc) on another Linux-64 system

- verified LICENSE and NOTICE files

Additionally, I've used the 4.1.6-RC1 "convenience binaries" for light
testing:

- No regressions with respect to 4.1.5
- The update connects to the expected server
https://ooo-updates.apache.org/ but I've been unable to verify that it
actually retrieves the expected feed

Dear Andrea,

It is amazing the experience in the Wiki project. It is vivid my joy with the
works of Wiki. I have found many videos that specifically aboard the MediaWiki
software point by point, I feel it great. After I finish the project of skins
(Wiki Skins) I would like to continue with projects of Apache Wiki, because I
can handle them easily.

Glad,

Dear Andrea,

I have found the Wiki's Skin fulfilling because of it's friendly form and I
have found the PHP work fulfilling because of it's sympathetic way. The
friendly form is an aspect of a sympathetic way of work and I find it
fulfilling both the friendly and the sympathetic aspects of the task.

How good did I feel the CSS work? Well, I feel it a secure task because now the
remain thing is the creation of a database to use the Wiki's editor. The Wiki's
editor is an involving application and it works well in my browser, it is
certainly driving me to happiness.

Glad,
Sandro Suzart

It took a while, but here I am with a task.

One of the many things that would be nice to have is a new skin (i.e.,
graphical theme) for our MWiki
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page
(which is also being moved to a new server, but this is irrelevant to
this discussion).

This requires some PHP and design capabilities, and a tutorial is
available at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Skinning_Part_1
and related pages.

Sandro, can this work as a task for you? All you will need is a standard
MediaWiki installation from https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download (I
recommend the "stable LTS" version, since that is the one we are going
to settle on) and the tutorial above.

If you would like to receive the current skin (I don't even know if it
is a skin or just a set of CSS customizations) just ask and I can
provide it; but honestly I would start from
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:All_skins then find one that you
like and extend/customize it.

The logo must be updated too and Matthias already sent the new one.

Regards,
   Andrea.
