GNU Linux install guide - 6 pages....

2021-02-09 Thread marcia wilbur
Hi.

I realize I did prematurely create a simple installation guide for GNU Linux
users without realizing the licensure.
This could be fixed.
However, I received an email off this list from Keith stating the guide was not
peer reviewed.

I wonder, were these guides?
http://openoffice-uni.org/

this was also posted online.

One recommendation - please make the onboarding simple and straightforward for
those volunteering in this effort for documentation.

I was just trying to be a positive force and influence for this project, but
really and am disappointed by the docs team - well, particularly and the
continued push to use the old docs, mix method of documentation and as I heard
during fosdem = the idea... this project cannot move forward as a current
offering - like a corporation

I do encourage the docs team to move forward with current useful documentation
for the project, working with developers in an effort to drive innovation.

I hope you can move forward with these attitudes in a positive manner.

Keith, all future communication should be made here.

Thank you.

Nope. I was in error. for this build I did clone from the github repo available
in the build instructions.

looks like - some version from aug 19

Let me see if I can find the source for 4.19.

This is weird. You say you are trying to build 4.1.9 but the solver version is
4.5.0 (trunk).
Are you *SURE* you're on the AOO419 branch?

Re: pi 4 port update

2021-01-12 Thread marcia wilbur
Mathias,

I was trying on the pi ARM.
Then, I moved Debian - x86 and had a similar error.

I figured I'd try on desktop first, right - then port.
But had similar errors.

I am following the build guide.
Had a few issues like hsqldb and now cosv.

what version of gcc is preferred?
I'm using 8.3.0

Yes we have this feature as an extension. I tried to build it from 4.2.x
branch.

You can get it from http://home.apache.org/~mechtilde/Tools/ and test it.

Hi.

Do we have a feature to open PDFs in Draw?
I tried. All I had was characters. Am I doing something wrong or do we not have
"open PDF as images in Draw".

I have gs and imagemagick - was able to convert the same PDF at the shell with
convert... So, is it a config or not a feature yet?

also, i couldn't login to requests so, I'm asking here.

Maybe Marcia is able to merge it?

It seems to be for ARM32, but that would be a start!

2020-10-16 Thread marcia wilbur
Hello.

One thing I do acknowledge here is the support and maintenance of the software
as a vital part of the community.
While my own development (respin) doesn't have a lot of new features, a
competitor had blasted me with - what have you done.

How we serve community cannot be measured in just new features or updates.
We offer support, guidance, and in some cases, hope.

I remember when OO was abandoned and Apache took it on.
This recent PR strategy by the Document Foundation was extremely disappointing.

I appreciate the AOO community and am here to support this effort.

That is correct with regard to law, but for some people not with regard
to morals.

And to the last sentence I have a comment:

I am (and maybe some others are) supporting Apache OpenOffice not
because but in spite of the copyleftless licence.

Kind regards and excuse my poor english
