According to [1]:
"The suggested actions feature is currently only available in North America."

I don't see it in other UI: (en-GB), (de), (fr) or (pl) - cf. [2]

2024-02-14 Thread Matthias Seidel

Funny fact:

I have two machines with Windows 11 (22H2 and 23H2 Insider Preview) and
both do not have the option for "Suggested Actions".

I only have "Clipboard History" and see no problems with AOO 4.1.15,
when enabled.

Hi Don,
There are several posts on the user forum about similar problems. For
example

https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?p=536089#p536089

The suggested solution is:
" Windows 11 has a new Clipboard Manager - go to Start > Settings,
Click

Clipboard on the System tab and turn off *Suggested Actions*; if that
doesn't help, try turning off *Clipboard History"*
Please let us know if that works.

Yes, this seems to be a common problem on Windows, we have a lot of
complaints in the Microsoft Store about Calc being unstable.

@All: Anyone who has an idea how to fix this problem?

I think Firefox was also experiencing this and they fixed it:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-hangs-when-copying-suggested-actions-windows-11

Unfortunately their bug report is very long:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1774285

Possibly this was the fix, which calls OleFlushClipboard() after setting
the clipboard contents:
https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D160646

Thank you (again) for your valuable expertise!

Interesting that we are not alone with that problem... ;-)

I think it would be great to fix it, as the majority of our users are
on Windows and the number of Windows 11 users is increasing.

Hi Francis, Thank you for your help. When I checked the settings for the
Suggested Actions it was set to ON. The Clipboard History was set to
OFF. When I turned OFF the Suggested Actions, the spreadsheets acted as
you would expected it shound.  So just to check the Clipboard History, I
changed to ON. The spreadsheets acted as there was no change of values
(Clipboard History did not come into play with request.

One again Thanks for your help. Have a great day

2015-01-09 Thread Oliver Brinzing

Hi Florian,

 Dear open-office Team,
unfortunately a data got damaged (don´t know how) which is very
important for me! do you know, what the matter is? (the data is enclosed.

i am sorry, but the file contains only NUL values.

please check if you can find a backup file *.bak in your openoffice user folder,
if you use windows, e.g.: %appdata%\OpenOffice\4\user\backup

RE: Problem with open office data

2015-01-09 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Your attached file consists of 16,346 nul (00) bytes. There is no recoverable
data in it. It is not a valid ODF Text (OpenOffice Writer) document.

It was apparently saved in a corrupted form. This can happen when OpenOffice
is closed improperly or there was a problem with interruption of file saving.
Was there a situation that had you force quitting from OpenOffice?

You will need to go back to a backup copy that you had saved before. You
*might* be able to find an AutoRecovery version of the file that was the one
being worked from.

To minimize this happening in the future, review the OpenOffice Tools | Options
| Load/Save | General options for creating backup copies and also saving
AutoRecovery information.
