Hi Phillip, Some general advice for students working on a project like this: http://openoffice.apache.org/students.html We can help you more if you can tell us more about your assignment. For example, do you need to demonstrate a specific quality assurance technique? Or just contribute in some what related to entering defect reports? There is a good intro to how we do QA : http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-qa.html We're currently finishing up a minor release, Apache OpenOffice 4.0.1, which should be done in the next couple of weeks. There will be an opportunity to do some testing there.
