As far as I understand when we accept the suggestion the name is
transferred (else we have to do it manually)

I agree it is importantbut translations are just as important as code,
and we would not open our code so non-committers can change what they want
? For code contributions the committer is supposed to use a special comment
to give the credit, maybe translator-committers can do the same with the
note field.

I hope everybody is aware the the credit is only available in pootle,,,not
in our svn, which is the original, so in other words no-one can tell how
long the credit survives (clearly inside a release window the db will not
be reset).

I dont have too much experience, but I would think, the active
committer-translators knows who the active potiential committers are
without a statistic.

I understand that we can have more one profile in this case, Jan, or
best, we need rethink this. I agree that if a new translator arrives
and starts helping with suggestions is fine. But how credit his
contribution? This mensure is important (IMHO) to justify an
invitation of this contibutor to have a "upgrade" to commiter.

Today, i can't see a way to this.

Yes. I agree with you again, but i see important to have the channel
for non-programmer give his contributions and the respective credits
and recognition.

This is a very important because the step we have taken is in the grey
array of what can be accepted, and I am pretty sure it will be monitored
how much we allow non-committers.

Ah! This is fine! A good step for new volunteers (as translators).
Thanks, Jurgen and Jan by your great job over Pootle!

no not really, it is simply not open. Please send an email to this list
if you need an account. Either Jan or I will handle it then via private

Humm.. Sorry, but i think that lost some thing. With this new server,
beyond the new server, with its advances, we will have conditions to
add new volunteers without commit permissions?

Thx to jsc the last translations are in the server. Jsc is still
controlling our po files and how we shall use the server.

Thanks! This is a major development and it will allow new volunteers to
work directly online (with proper attribution, very important in our
case) if they prefer to do so. Everything looks fine for me, after
authenticating with my committer login.
