Hi Dhananjayan, I am a PhD researcher from Brazil. I am studying the difficulties faced by newcomers to Open Source project. As I am following some dev lists, I noticed that you sent this email to AOO list interested in contributing. I am really interest in understanding your motives and also what did you do after this email. My objective is to check the problems you faced and to propose solutions on how to help newcomers overcoming these problems. Let me recap from your previous messages to this list: you manage to go through the configure step (i.e., ./configure ...) and through the bootstrap step as explained in https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO Did you also manage to build OpenOffice (i.e., build --all)? You will need a working build environment before you can successfully take up development tasks. If you have problems with this step, just ask again. If instead you already have your first build ready, congratulations and I suggest that you pick a task from the easy-hacks list linked from http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-development.html and you give the bug number here, so that we can give you specific advice.
