Hello Eike,

I have put the OT flag, because my answer does no longer match the
initial subject

Sure, I read it, but my concern is about code core developers. What
I'd like to see, is a map showing the people writing regular code for
OOo, to have sort of photo, where such devs are not mixed with all
the other, or maybe using another color, or something else but clear,
showing easely how many are doing that, compared to the other.

And yes, I think, be listed this way, is IMHO a minimum the project
could do for regular volunteers or profesionall writing code for
OpenOffice.org.

This is even very easy to count them :)

For me developers are the one who fix bugs, add new features ..

The map is about OOo development, certainly there are not only core
code developers involved in development, no?

Yes, sure, the map... but I don't like how people play with the word
"development". My conviction is, if you want to fix bugs and add new
features, the role of core code developers is essential, and should
be the first line fight of every day in the project. The rest is
important of course, and you can add zillions of people helping, and
contributing, but I think like some other people, that OpenOffice.org
future can be compromised if we don't care. Even with millions of "
meta " developers around.

That's what I wanted to say.

EOT for me.

Regards,
Eric Bachard

Welcome to mingw port world!

However, if you are willing to contribute to OOo community by writing some
application
fragment, mingw is not a good platform. If you are planning to do so on MS
Windows,
Microsoft Visual C++ is the standard tool. You can also use free Express
version and
you can find building instruction on Wiki pages.

I think the efforts by Volker on codeline 625 was abandoned and maybe the web
page is
obsolete. I am taking over the task on SRC680 and DEV300.

Please note that mingw may not substitute MS Visual C++ even if the port is
completed.
I am doing the port for checking code portability in windows native modules and
for
fearing Microsoft may discontinue providing free compiler in the future.

My effort on SRC680 is almost completed but I stopped it because we have
switched to
DEV300. My effort on DEV300 is also leaving a few build breakers.

You can find my draft build instructions here. It is for SRC680.

http://www.hkfreak.net/build_windows_mingw_tcsh.htm

Some required SDKs are too old and maybe you cannot get them.

I have not made instruction document for DEV300 as there is no documents for
other
platforms. You can find changed requirements for DEV300 in my following issue.

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88772

If you dare try build on mingw, the documents may be of some help.

Best Regards

| It seems there has been some misconception about who I wanted to address

| Frappr. Probably due to the wording I chose, "if you're involved in OOo
| development". My intention was not to restrict entries to core code

| documentation writers, and last but not least dictionary maintainers ;-)

Once upon a time a short sentence describing that was also displayed on
the Frappr page, but they changed UI and that short description was
dropped. Their UI got worse over the years anyway, the more they tried
to pimp up that service.

Cleaned that up a bit and hopefully didn't remove anyone who indeed was
an OOo contributor. You sometimes can't tell if there's an entry with
a nick only that is not related to OOo, and nothing else.
