[OSM-dev] Changeset meta 'comments_count'

2016-10-20 Thread Michael Larsen
Hi,

Changeset metadata contains the attribute 'comments_count' which I assume is
the number of notes attached to a changeset. However, now I see that it is
zero for changesets with comments, e.g. see the one below. I suspect this is
a recent change? The API page does not mention this attribute AFAIK, so maybe
this is an unused and deprecated feature?

Any thoughts?

Regards,
MichaelVL

That call was recently switched to cgimap so this is likely a bug in the
cgimap implementation of it. Please raise an issue here:

Re: [OSM-dev] In need of mentoring

2016-10-20 Thread Peter Barth
Hello Anagha,

as you might know, OpenStreetMap and the ecosystem is realy huge. There
is not a single "OpenStreetMap repository". We have different editors,
we have a webfrontend, we have the API, different rendering stacks, we
have services built upon OSM data, we have data processing tools and
libraries. We just have a huge amount of projects and code out there!
And each one of these projects has a different maintainer and a
different set of developers working on them. I.e. your question for
guidance is a bit difficult as no single developer feels addressed by
your inquiry.

As I read you did familiarize yourself a bit with OpenStreetMap. That's
a good thing and you should continue doing that. Go out and map more
stuff. Try to use different editors. Try to look at the maps produced
and try to get an overview of the things building our great project.

You need and should find something yourself first that interests you.
I.e. if you like design, have a look at openstreetmap-carto. If you love
Android and want to improve editing OSM data on your smartphone, have a
look at Vespucci and so on. Pick something that you like, something you
know of, something you want to work on.

Once you know that, we can more likely put you in touch with someone
responsible for that project you chose. And after that I'm sure we'll
also find something suitable for you to work on in next GSoC.

Hope that helps. Good luck and btw. welcome to OpenStreetMap ;-)

Regards,
Peda
