There was a recent patch to Glibc which added another sanity check for
fastbins (I personally do not understand the whole fastbin concept yet and
when the error first occured, I was mislead by myself and thought it has
something to do with prelink, but now I have clean system without prelink
with all the binaries exactly the same as they come in packages). See
 http://repo.or.cz/w/glibc.git/commit/90a3055e8bdd9308eceeadc0b37278f324ec6b5d
The problem here is, that qpidd is very easily (though randomly) caught
by this check. This often happens during 'make check' and it successfully
renders any of the tests as false-positive.
I was discussing this issue with Jakub Jelinek (Glibc hacker) as I was
not sure if the problem resides on our side or not and he suggested to
use Valgrind or ElectricFence. So I installed Valgrind and I am kindly
asking you, the developers to fix the memory leaks in Qpid.
Have a look at the attached log of 'make check' on r938298 of qpid trunk
(with little clean-up patches also included in attachment).
The problem should arise in any of the modern GNU/Linux
distributions. Even the beta RHEL6 contains new Glibc with mentioned
patch so I am setting critical priority for this.
I did not try to compile the whole thing against older (stable?) boost
version, but can do that easily if it helps in extracting the root cause
of the problem. No idea how suspicious boost can be in this case.
Get back to me if there is anything else I can help with or more
 info to add.

when the error first occured, I was mislead by myself and thought it has
something to do with prelink, but now I have clean system without prelink
with all the binaries exactly the same as they come in packages). See
 http://repo.or.cz/w/glibc.git/commit/90a3055e8bdd9308eceeadc0b37278f324ec6b5d

Using the test framework at http://github.com/movitto/qmf/ we were able to
cause the console to hang and require a SIGKILL to stop it by querying for
 450 or so objects.
 To reproduce:
 in project_stress/stress_agent/src run:
 ./stress_agent -n 500
 And in project_stress/ruby/bin run:
 ./console.rb -t testobject -s
If you try rerunning the agent with fewer objects you will see what normal
 output looks like.

Kerberos auth support for the java client

 Key: QPID-1645

 Project: Qpid
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: Java Client
Affects Versions: M4
Reporter: Rajith Attapattu
Assignee: Rajith Attapattu
 Fix For: 0.5

Currently the 0-8 java client only supports PLAIN and cram-MD5 as
 authentication mechanisms.
The 0-10 java client only uses PLAIN.
It would be good to add Keberos as an authentication mechanism to the java
 client.

Since the BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_EXPECTED_FAILURES is documented
(that is in version 1.36), it should be called a bit differently than before.

See
http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/libs/test/doc/html/utf/user-guide/test-organization/expected-failures.html
for more info.

[jira] Updated: (QPID-1740) ECHO variable is undocumented

Jan Sarenik updated QPID-1740:
--

Attachment: 0002-Deletion-of-undocumented-ECHO.patch

This one applies cleanly on svn trunk 754807

 ECHO variable is undocumented
 -

 Key: QPID-1740
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-1740
 Project: Qpid
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: C++ Broker
Affects Versions: M5
Environment: Arch Linux, GNU Autoconf 2.63, GNU Automake 1.10, GNU
 Libtool 2.2.6a
Reporter: Jan Sarenik
Priority: Trivial
 Fix For: M5

 Attachments: 0001-Deletion-of-undocumented-ECHO.patch,
 0002-Deletion-of-undocumented-ECHO.patch

   Original Estimate: 0.08h
  Remaining Estimate: 0.08h

In newer version of Libtool, ECHO variable is not set in
generated Makefiles, merely the lt_ECHO is. The ECHO
variable has never been documented nor meant to be used that
way without having independent M4 echo test in-code.
 Available solutions:
   1. Start generating snapshots that will
  contain ./configure friends pre-generated
by your preferred version of GNU Autotools
which includes the undocumented ECHO variable
  in generated Makefiles.
   2. Start using CMake after 0.5 release.
   3. Apply the patch in attachment to make the
code ready for latest versions of Autotools.
AFAIK code rebase to CMake is on its way, but IMHO the
change of build system does not prevent us from making
errors so please read the docs.
