Hi Apache RocketMQ Community

The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache RocketMQ has invited Zhoubo
(apache id : zhoubo) to become PMC Member and we are pleased to announce that
he has accepted.

Along the way of building and flourishing Apache RocketMQ community, he has
contributed a lot of challenging yet significant features, keeping Apache
RocketMQ valuable among new technology trends.

With the development of data technology, the data integration ecosystem becomes
more and more important to RocketMQ. The thriving data integration ecosystem
enables RocketMQ to provide users with complete data architecture solutions. In
order to develop RocketMQ's data ecosystem, Zhoubo participated in and
facilitated the construction of RocketMQ-Connect, the core system of RocketMQ's
data integration ecosystem.

While Zhoubo worked with the developers on the Connect API standard[1], he also
did a lot of the development work on RocketMQ-Connect. Thanks to his
contributions, RocketMQ-Connect is now fully functional, with support for
advanced features such as schema and transformation, and the number of
connectors has increased to 30. [2][3][4][5]

In addition to code contributions, Zhou followed the Apache Way, actively
participating in the RocketMQ evangelism and engaging more developers to build
RocketMQ. At present, the number of RocketMQ-Connect contributors has reached
64, and some of them have grown up to be a committer, such as sunxiaojian,
Oliverwqcwrw, etc.

[ANNOUNCE] New PMC member for Apache RocketMQ: aaronai

2022-09-04 Thread hill
Hi Apache RocketMQ Community,

The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache RocketMQ has invited Yangkun
Ai (apache id :aaronai) to become PMC Member and we are pleased to announce
that she has accepted.

Along the way of building and flourishing Apache RocketMQ community, he has
contributed a lot of challenging yet significant features, keeping Apache
RocketMQ valuable among new technology trends.

Back to 2019, ServiceMesh became the keyword of the year. Issues, and threads
in mailing lists were seen, expecting the support of Apache RocketMQ on envoy
proxy, the de facto standard to Service Mesh data plane. He, after conquering
challenging model-mismatch difficulties, makes Apache RocketMQ accessible to
service mesh community, with very good code quality. See [1].

In addition to expanding Apache RocketMQ potential user population, he enhances
observability of Apache RocketMQ following OpenTelemetry through refining
logging, defining metrics, and tracing. He even contributes an extension
specification to OpenTelemtry. See [2].

Apache RocketMQ clients offer limited reliable choices for non-Java users. Ai,
collaborating with other members, defines new client-server protocol v2, a new
set of APIs, and independently implements Apache RocketMQ Java SDK v5.x. See
[3][4]. He is also the release manager of Apache RocketMQ Java SDK v5.0.0 and
C/C++ SDK v5.0.0.

Apache RocketMQ main repository also witnesses his active participation, from
issue disscusion[5], pull request review to feature implementation[6]. He also
helps modernize CI infrastructure, automating pull-request mergeability checks
and shortening the amount of time required to see pull request impacts.

Congrats, guy :-)

[ANNOUNCE] New PMC member for Apache RocketMQ: pingww

2022-09-04 Thread hill
Hi Apache RocketMQ Community,

The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache RocketMQ has invited Wuhuan
(apache id : pingww) to become PMC Member and we are pleased to announce that
she has accepted.

IoT is one of the most popular technology trends in recent years, and there
will be tens of billions of IoT devices in the world. Enabling RocketMQ to
connect to IoT devices and acquire and process IoT data will greatly expand
RocketMQ's application scenarios and further increase RocketMQ's user scale.

Wuhuan has 10 years of experience in distributed research and development, and
has been focusing on ultra-large scale cloud native IoT messaging technology
for the last 4 years. In order to make RocketMQ capable of IoT, Wuhuan overcame
many technical challenges, took RocketMQ lightweight queue as storage,
introduced MQTT proxy in the mode of storage and computation separation [1],
and built RocketMQ IoT message solution [2] integrated with end-cloud. This
gives RocketMQ the ability to connect massive iot devices and process iot data.

In the process of developing RocketMQ-MQTT, Wuhuan actively mobilized the power
of the community and cooperated with contributors from many different
organizations to complete the construction of RocketMQ's IoT field, and
practiced Apache Way.

In addition to contributing to key products and technologies of RocketMQ,
Wuhuan has participated in community preaching activities for many times,
including Meetup, Summit, WeChat public account, etc., to publicize the major
breakthrough of RocketMQ in the IoT field and improve the brand influence of
RocketMQ.

Congrats, guy :-)

[Call for Review] RIP 37&39 The brand new polyglot clients and stateless proxy module

2022-06-21 Thread hill
Hello RocketMQ Community,

In May, we already have a CR request for RIP-39, nowadays, we sincerely call
for review again for both RIP-37 and RIP-39.

RIP-39 provides a proxy module for rocketmq which is a stateless component that
makes full use of the newly introduced `pop` consumption mechanism to achieve
stateless consumption behavior. As the traffic interface, it's convenient to
implement multiple protocols upon proxy. gRPC protocol is implemented first
and the customized `Remoting` protocol will be implemented later. HTTP/1.1 will
also be taken into consideration.

RIP-37 provides a set of brand new polyglot clients and unified APIs for
rocketmq 5.0 and we already have three implementations, Java/CPP clients are
production-ready, and the C# client is in the testing phase. All the new
clients are placed in one mono repo, please refer to
https://github.com/apache/rocketmq-clients for further details about design or
implementation.

Finally, we will merge RIP-39 to the 5.0-beta branch soon, but feel free to
submit any comments to this RIP, we will iterate this big feature continuously
with the community. And more clients will be developed in the future.

Call for review: RIP-39 Support gRPC protocol

2022-05-08 Thread hill
Hi all,

We have submitted a pull request for RIP-39[1] in the RocketMQ repo[2], and
it's ready to review right now.

This PR has added a new module `rocketmq-proxy` that supports gRPC protocol[3]
with `Local` and `Cluster` modes.

For the client-side, the Java and CPP clients are coming soon, while the C# and
Golang clients are still under development.

Kindly request our community review this PR, and if any contributor has more
interest in development, please don't hesitate to join us.
