Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
Hi Justin, That makes sense, +dev list. Please let us know if anyone is in trouble when submitting a report to JIRA system. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
The missed context: Consider that most of users and contributors are from China while the JIRA system has a slow response for us, so I propose that RocketMQ should migrate from JIRA to Github issue for working efficiency. Furthermore, the Github issue has a better integration with pull requests, could speed up the merge process. Any advice is welcome~ Regards, yukon On Tue, Jan 2, 2018 at 8:04 PM, yukon wrote: > Hi Justin, > > That makes sense, +dev list. > > Please let us know if anyone is in trouble when submitting a report to > JIRA system. > > On Tue, Jan 2, 2018 at 7:59 PM, Justin Mclean > wrote: > >> Hi, >> >> IMO it would be better to discuss this on dev list as I think as it >> impacts all committers and potential committers not just PMC members. >> >> Thanks, >> Justin > > >

Other Apache projects do the so it’s certainly possible. I’m not from China so forgive my ignorance on this matter but is there a concern that GitHub could be possibly blocked? I seem to remember it being blocked for a time in 2016. Using Apache gitbox service [1] may get around that?? Thank, Justin 1. https://gitbox.apache.org
Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
Hi Justin, RocketMQ is hosted on Gitbox now, and every software engineer has a proper way to reach GitHub, no need to worry about it :) Regards, yukon On Tue, Jan 2, 2018 at 8:22 PM, Justin Mclean wrote: > Hi, > > > Consider that most of users and contributors are from China while the > JIRA system has a slow response for us, so I propose that RocketMQ should > migrate from JIRA to Github issue for working efficiency. > > > > Furthermore, the Github issue has a better integration with pull > requests, could speed up the merge process. > > Other Apache projects do the so it’s certainly possible. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
+1 The JIRA system is truly slow in China, which makes it difficult to create or update an ISSUE. It would be great to migrate the issues to github. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
Hi, I am glad to share my feeling on JIRA and Github's Issue usage. JIRA is a very good issue tracking system, but it is really slow in China. I have remembered clearly when I came to America last year. As usual, I login in JIRA to handle RocketMQ issues, it behaves tremendously well than I was in China. According to my experience with GitHub's Issue, it has smoothly experience in China and America, but it likely missed the feature I most love in JIRA. That is 'components'. I remembered we have discussed that we want to introduce maintainer role when we in incubator status, that’s the most important tool for this rule. Besides, it has no different comparing JIRA. So, if we could transfer our issue track system to GitHub' Issue, maybe a better effective way for global collaboration. From this reason, I would like to vote +1 for our issue infra. transfer. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
+1 for moving issues to github due to the bad network. Besides we still need handle issues from Jira carefully; indeed active community is one of the most important things. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
Hi all, Please note that we cannot migrate any existing Jira tickets to Github Issues. We need to start fresh and migrate the incomplete tickets to Github manually. I will open a migrate ticket to INFRA next week if there is no opposite voice. Re: [DISCUSS] Migrate JIRA to Github Issue
I am +1 to migration. Creating a ticket on current JIRA is too slow. +1 for migration. Github seems to suffice for how we handle issues now. -- Roman On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, 9:13:53 PM GMT+9, yukon wrote: The missed context: Consider that most of users and contributors are from China while the JIRA system has a slow response for us, so I propose that RocketMQ should migrate from JIRA to Github issue for working efficiency. It seems to migration is a main voice from our guys. If no further feedback, I am glad to put it forward :-) Best Regards, Von Gosling > 在 2018年1月9日,09:20,Roman Shtykh 写道: > > +1 for migration.
