Re: draft of ASF Board Report for Rya - please comment

2017-04-04 Thread Adina Crainiceanu
I submitted the following report. The numbers for non-committers and
contributions are approximations - I counted the pull requests, not sure
which ones were merged. I can make modifications tomorrow if needed.

Thank you all for comments.

Adina

RyaRya (pronounced "ree-uh" /rēə/) is a cloud-based RDF triple store
that supports SPARQL queries. Rya is a scalable RDF data management
system built on top of Accumulo. Rya uses novel storage methods,
indexing schemes, and query processing techniques that scale to
billions of triples across multiple nodes. Rya provides fast and easy
access to the data through SPARQL, a conventional query mechanism for
RDF data.Rya has been incubating since 2015-09-18.Three most important

Re: draft of ASF Board Report for Rya - please comment

2017-04-04 Thread Adina Crainiceanu
Josh, I'll try to find out the numbers for contributions so we can be more
concrete on that point.
Seetharam, I was thinking that giving more talks on Rya and having more
publications on Rya will hopefully increase visibility of the project,
which in turn will attract users, then users start finding bugs/wanting
features, and they start submitting code contributions for some of those.
Hence the desire to have a talk on Rya at ApacheCon. If people with more
experience have suggestions on how to increase the community in general and
contributors in particular, please let us know.

Re: draft of ASF Board Report for Rya - please comment

2017-04-03 Thread Josh Elser
My only comment is to be a bit more concrete on the number of
contributions you have received from non-committers (e.g. how many
unique contributors and number of contributions total). This helps to
show what the pipeline on your community-building looks like.

Otherwise, lgtm. Thanks for putting it together, Adina!
